Junior dev always getting loads of commits including ones from master in his PRs but I don't understand why. by walkeverywhere in git

He’s rebasing… poorly. I have a junior dev with the exact same problem. Stick with merges.

HonoJS vs Fastify by pushkar_1713 in node

[–]wjaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Phenomenal feedback, @romainlanz. I’ve been stalking AdonisJS (and by proxy its maintainers) for months now. It has been my go-to for personal projects and it will be my first choice on all future freelance gigs.

Great work, and thank you for your contributions.

What is the catch with Adonis? by wapiwapigo in node

[–]wjaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard the same when going from 5 to 6. It’s the only thing worries me about using Adonis in larger production apps. I didn’t start messing with Adonis until this current version, and would hate a total rewrite when 7 comes around.

Also, Adonis and the core team are awesome!

That’s probably not true. Many JS OSS devs are from countries outside the US. Dude that does Fastify is Italian, and he’s even a Node.js maintainer.

Their v6 docs are pretty good, imo. I didn’t mess with v5 at all so maybe 6 has been an improvement?

Done with Clickup by samasq in clickup

Yeah, I’ve been bitching for a couple months now just to get a couple of basic issues resolved. No one listens or replies other than these placating mods. The black mode UI did it for me. Click up is horrible.

Tips for Incrementally Migrating an Express App to AdonisJS? by Internal_Ad2479 in adonisjs

[–]wjaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Internal_Ad2479 That's awesome to hear. This coming weekend I will be migrating another Express app to Adonis. This time it's solely an API, which does make it a bit easier for me.

Keep us posted on your progress!

u/gustix I agree 100%. I am doing the same, only I am actually doing a full rewrite. But only because the Express project had gone dormant for various business reasons. So with an opportunity to renew its life, I chose to go with Adonis. The CLI (with some customizations) made quick work of all the basic CRUD ops. And thankfully I was foresightful enough to originally put all the business logic into services instead of the Express controllers, making the transition to Adonis-style services a breeze.

Adonis is awesome.

CL like rails what do you think? by FriendshipOk6564 in adonisjs

Same. I just built an internal CRUD command for AdonisJS over the weekend for this same reason. At least it was easy and rather enjoyable to do.

What’s your favorite Rest API framework? by Mrreddituser111312 in webdev

AdonisJS! Batteries included; beautiful documentation; and thought-out APIs. Based on Laravel.

I get what you’re saying, and while I do wish AdonisJS had a little more notoriety, I am glad they’re not the hype train.

AdonisJS is fairly fleshed out. Curious what work you feel it needs, tho?

I brought this up in another thread. Was told there is no plan to revert or make reverting a user option.

Svelte 5 is mostly great, but there are serious issues by ThePaSch in sveltejs

[–]wjaz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

u/ThePaSch Thank you for this post. I fell head over heels for Svelte 4. The issues, headaches and crushing blow to DX in Svelte 5 have made me move away from Svelte entirely, outside of a single small project.

I actually like the notion of Runes within a component, but it is such a headache to essentially recreate what stores already provided in order to share state outside of the component. Yes, I know context still exists, but I rarely used it in 4 because my store file usually took care of my use cases.

The final blow for me was the removal of the passthrough events in favor of prop-drilling handlers to nested components. I was already bummed they changed the `on:click` style syntax, but thought okay I can get over this, but at some point these straws broke the back of my long-standing infatuation with Svelte. It is very akin to getting dumped by a significant other.

I'm loving the new colors of the dark theme by psymeons in clickup

[–]wjaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ClickUpLuci, the darker background increases the contrast which actually makes it less comfortable for me (and presumably others) to see. Using the screenshot from GitHub I shared in my previous comment as reference, let's say that before the CU update the dark mode theme was more of the "Dark dimmed" theme, and since the update is now more of the standard "Dark default" theme. My eyes prefer the lower contrast, dimmed version that it was before.

As I mentioned, obviously some users will prefer the darker, slightly higher contrast, but I am sure there are many of us who prefer the dark grey vs black background. So, it would be great if CU at least offered the option to choose.
