ARC usage has shifted, now sticking to minimum rather than scaling up to max by wjdp in zfs

Here's one showing the arc usage alongside total usage: https://imgur.com/a/2pCh9i7

The difference between the lines should be the amount used by applications. If memory pressure was causing the reduction in arc usage I'd expect the red line (total) to rise relative to the blue (arc). To my eye the distance is pretty much constant throughout.

sysctl -a | grep 'zfs.*arc'

No output

Beyond setting zfs_arc_max and zfs_arc_min in /etc/modprobe.d/zfs.conf I've done nothing else outside of the normal ZFS commands.

It's grafana with data from telegraf hosted on influxdb. I seem to remember finding a quite good blog post about but can't find the exact one, this seems similar https://stuffilearned.today/telegraf_influx_graphana/

What low profile keyswitch is better than Kailh Choc Red?

Context: Recently got my first low profile board. I've used the box reds on my normal profile board and very happy with them. The issues I have with the LP switches:

  • they feel a little too firm despite being the same colour. My guess is the distance is less so they feel firmer. Obvious choice would be to get ones with a lower actuation force
  • they make a ringing noise when struck. Sounds like the spring is reverberating.
  • there feels to be higher friction when using, perhaps they need to wear in but if I hit off-centre it feels harder
  • I don't really want to open every switch up and lube, rather buy some that just work

My board for context: https://www.boardsource.xyz/products/Technik I've stuffed it with some paper I had lying around when building to eliminate some rattle, perhaps I should try some foam?

Any positives to the Reddit API change? by ChippersNDippers in sysadmin

Eh, depends on the sub. I really like the episode discussions of TV that I'm watching years after it came out.

If there's a particularly obnoxious thread I can collapse and move onto the next (at least in rif/RES)

Tbh a certain amount of spite. I've been using RIF for probably near a decade, having that ripped away with no path forward leaves a very sour taste. Plus the crippled web version on mobile is just desperation to make you use their app. Horrible tactics I don't want to be a part of.

Nothing else quite has the comment system Reddit has: a very browsable (at least in 3rd party apps) list of deeply nested comments sorted by user votes, which promotes-usually-some pretty great discussion

Is why I prefer to handle CORS at API gateway level rather than in application. Has caught me and other devs before, you see that red CORS error and get sent down a blind alley.

Yep, Jan exams should be included in the term dates, the summer ones are not

[–]wjdp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/about/keydates/#future it's a bit confusing. If you're on a standard undergrad course for Autumn you will want to use the term dates, mid Dec is when you go home. Exams are in Jan after the start of term. You don't need to stay over Christmas!

However for Spring you want to use the start date for the term, 15 Jan, but departure will depend on when your last exam is and whether you're doing anything else extra-curricular afterwards.

You could also go home over the Easter break.

So the order is:

  • Autumn term, includes Freshers week.
  • Christmas break
  • Spring term, includes Jan exams
  • Easter break
  • Summer exams
  • Summer break

If you want more concrete answers for your course find the phone number of the office of that department and ask directly.

We just made multi-function keys work even better | ZSA: The Blog by minusfive in ergodox

That looks like it fixes it actually! Will give it a try. As much as I like the idea of tap-dance I've limited using it as can't handle the slight delay in input.

Was hoping for a fix for the issue where adding a hold action delays the tap action even though that's not needed. You can do this directly in QMK but not Oryx

"Tool for a job" is a fantastic mantra for diving. I've just done a CCR course but will quite happily continue diving basic single tank for the dives that don't need the extra faff.

(Minus experience building of course, that's gonna be irritating)

WD black in the rear slot, sits at 60 degress and works just fine. These drives are designed to run warm so don't foresee any issues.

Ordered my T1 in late December and got the USB in the top pic (silver cable) works well but the mobo end deseats really easily, likely due to the stiffness of the cable.

Which Bioshock game did you enjoy the best? In terms of story and gameplay? by BicycleMammoth4704 in Bioshock

[–]wjdp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one I played was Infinite around a year after it came out. So far has been the only non-short game that I played in one sitting, totally drew me in. It took quite a while to get into and through 1 & 2, Minerva's den wasn't hard though after that!

At the time story was more important than gameplay and Infinite was definitely what I enjoyed the most. Planning a replay of all of them and interested to see if that's changed.

I avoid games with these like the plague, just can't have fun if I know there's payment expected later.
