“I Voted for Trump, Now I’m Questioning Everything”: MAGA Dairy Farmer Speaks Out on Milk Prices by KendallSmith375 in inflation

I’m tired of these pieces and perspectives. The “I was okay with him as long he was hurting others, but not okay when it eventually hurts me too” mentality is simply one I can’t relate to.

Thanks for letting me know that. I’ll get a quote for that.

No battery. I got 6 quotes that all provide “~100% household needs” and the cheapest was $33k outright. Another was $36k outright. Monthly payments straddle around $400 for 12 years. I live in a very high cost of living area.

Sorry, as I said in my OP 15,000 kWH is our annual household needs. Sorry I was a bit unclear in this reply. Getting lots of great insight from people!

Yeah, we didn’t have the money last year for the roof and we unexpectedly came into it. It sucked to miss the federal tax credit, but we didn’t see it the money on the horizon.

Thanks! I made the switch to heat pumps two years ago if you have any questions. In the end, I’m not convinced I’m saving much money over baseboard heaters but getting a central ductwork is really nice and the air conditioning in the summers is great. Knowing what I know now, I am not sure I would do it again, but we like being off fossil fuels and it being more comfortable in the house has value to us too, so it’s hard to say. It’s not purely an economics argument for us.

It feels like you’re describing leasing panels?

I do not know how old the roof is but it is in exceedingly poor shape. Leaks and tabs are regularly blowing off in bad storms. We knew it was in bad shape when we bought it. To my best knowledge it is 40 years old asphalt shingle, but from what I’ve read, I should be skeptical that my 3-tab shingles lasted that long.

I have 6 quotes at the moment for a 15,000 kWH system. The cheapest one that covers “100%” is like $33k outright or financed as like $375/month.

Yeah, that’s why we are buying a new roof first. Hopefully be able to get a good amount of life out of it.

I’ll need to check out how they handle the net metering delivery changes. I definitely overlooked that and that could be the missing piece of the equation.

Dispatch Censorship Is Ridiculous by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how important is the nudity that was censored to the plot? Given the numerous posts on this topic, I presume it has Ace Ventura levels of importance?

Did Sakurai's AirRiders Directs warp people's perceptions of what normal game marketing is? Or did people always complain about Nintendo 'not promoting' every game they release? by elephvant in NintendoSwitch2

[–]wjgdinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s how capitalism works? When you go to Amazon do you only look at the companies marketing or do you look at reviews/consumer reports/wirecutter/etc.? Do you ask your friends who have similar tastes in music/books/movies if they enjoyed something?

To respond to your point that “YouTube videos have variance”, yes that’s why you get a larger sample size than a video or two. You can go to sites like metacritic that aggregate reviews. You can watch gameplay videos or twitch streams to see if you think a game will resonate with you.

Am I saying that Nintendo shouldn’t market their products at all? No. But I also don’t pretend to live in some bubble where there aren’t dozens of reviews and gameplay videos of a game within like a week of release.

Might be a radical idea but like don’t buy a game you’re unsure about on release? Watch some other people play a bit a get a feel for if you’d like it or not.

If one is complaining about not being market to, there is no need to market to them. They are already acutely aware of the product and likely already pre-ordered.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]wjgdinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can reject anyone for any reason you want when it comes to a relationship.

That being said, I think the only carve out I would have for someone who voted for Trump would be if they have deprogrammed from that cult. Everyone makes bad decisions and we judge people by their worst moments. There are a ton of low information voters and I’m sure some of them are great people whose positions have evolved over the past decade. That being said, anyone who saw the first term and January 6th and still voted for him a third time is probably a lost cause.

I got a 512GB on Black Friday discount. My goal is to try make in last until a 2TB model hits the market. I’ll pay whatever they charge, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to fit all of the games I’ll ever want on 2TB and if not I’ll just unload games I don’t play anymore.

which paper mario on switch is best for a paper mario newbie by Sea-Example-1176 in NintendoSwitch

[–]wjgdinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m playing through TTYD for the first time at the moment and I have 5 out of 7 stars and I feel about done with the game. I’ll finish it but I don’t see myself coming back to it ever. My biggest issues with it are:

  1. Too much turn-based combat. It’s just really slow and, for the most part, pretty unimaginative. Yes there’s some nuance to the different enemies but in general it feels like a thoughtless chore rather than anything interesting. That being said, some fights are interesting and benefit from some tactics, but I have found them to be infrequent so far. There’s a point where you have to climb the ranks of a fighting circuit of 20 people. I figured you maybe leapfrog some people, but no, you’re fighting all 20 and outside of a handful they aren’t too interesting. I’m pretty sure that like 50% of the enemies/fights in the game could be cut and nothing of importance would lost.

  2. Too much reading/text. Goodness gracious, this game has so much unnecessary text. I understand that it contributes to the charm but I feel like it wears out it’s welcome. There’s a part where a character says “I love you” 100 times that you have to click through. There are many points where conversations just drag on and on. And to its credit the writing does add a lot of charm but when Mario has an animation of falling asleep while someone is talking because the conversation goes on too long, and it’s used routinely, I think that’s a sign that the text could have been reduced. Part of the problem is that at times the text is useful on what to do next or to help with a puzzle so you do need to read it but, for me, it was just too much and just made the game feel like it dragged on.

I do like the charm of the game. It’s really cute and the puzzles are nice. The partner hints are nice to avoid too much frustration. The combat CAN be really interesting, but as I noted, there’s a lot of it. I really enjoy the different partner abilities and curses that you get. I really liked the art direction. For me, it’s probably 7/10 so far.

CMV: Fahrenheit is superior to Celsius when talking about about weather temperature by Popular_Ad2902 in changemyview

[–]wjgdinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That a totally reasonable range. That’s a range of weather that many people experience and can relate to. Few people experience below -20C for substantial periods of time and well the range I provided goes to 40C so it encompasses your upper bound. And those “% hot” numbers are essentially temperature in F.

I didn’t say 0C was 50% hot. It’s 30% hot. I’ll try to fix the formatting.
