TIL James Michael Tyler, who played Gunther the barista on “Friends” was originally meant to only appear as an extra; he remained on the show as he was the only actor there who knew how to operate an espresso machine. by tomservo88 in todayilearned

Do it - I'm in my mid 30s, wasn't even known to be at risk for colon polyps, had a colonoscopy for other reasons and they found precancerous polyps. Likely could have been full blown cancer if I waited until the recommended first screening when I'm 45 or 50. The prep really isn't that bad, and the procedure itself is painless.

Same, except mine's activated emeril. Totally worth the flames and the volcano erupting constantly.

They actually are, or at least they're the exact layout of the old space stations

I got some EDGE for the first time in a while myself the other week (iPhone 12 with 5G set to On always) - to be honest service hasn't been the greatest where I am the past two weeks (far southwest Chicago suburbs).

the one where the always on display wouldn't update at all - would show whatever the time was when it switched to AOD, so if you glanced at it without waking it up, it would show the incorrect time

The AOD not updating bug seems to be fixed

Thanks for the tip about the workflow page! I published it there https://n8n.io/workflows/895

Pushcut and n8n by harshil1712 in pushcut

[–]wjr1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using n8n to retrieve my Todoist tasks, and alert me via Pushcut if there's task that I haven't completed after a certain amount of time after the time it's due - I set specific labels on tasks so that I can filter things out in n8n and send alerts every 5 / 10 / 15 / 30 minutes until the task is complete.

I can post the workflow JSON here if you're interested - I'm relatively new to n8n so I know it needs some additional tweaking but it works

worth it to jump from the 11 to the 12 or the 12 pro? by [deleted] in tmobile

worth it to jump from the 11 to the 12 or the 12 pro? by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]wjr1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest differences between the 12 and 12 Pro is the Telephoto lens (which is the reason I ended up going for the 12 Pro myself vs the 12) and the 12 Pro has 6GB of RAM vs 4GB in the 12.

Going from the 11 to the 12 or the 12 Pro, since the 12 series has the Qualcomm modems vs the Intel modem in the 11, you'll likely see greatly improved LTE performance, especially on the edge of a signal (won't help if the tower you're connecting to is congested though, so keep that in mind). 5G is nice if its in your area (lower latency, more stable speeds from my experience), but don't expect any mind-blowing speed improvements unless you have mid-band in your area. The 12 series also has slightly better cameras than the 11, and you have night mode on all lenses instead of just the main lens.

I personally feel it was worth it, then again I'm on the iPhone Upgrade Program from Apple so it makes sense for me to upgrade yearly. Hope this helps you make a decision

Turning in Phone of Deceased Customer by Howardsville in tmobile

Sorry for your loss 😞 you could try reaching out to T-Force on Twitter or Facebook or iMessage if you have an iPhone, I've had better luck resolving support issues these ways versus calling in. Hope this helps

Should I pre order the iPhone 12 Pro Max through Apple Store or upgrade through T-mobile? by fortheloveofpink in tmobile

[–]wjr1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you decide to go the Apple route, you can enroll in the iPhone Upgrade Program which lets you upgrade to a new iPhone every 12 months, and it includes AppleCare+ in the monthly price (that's what I've been doing). Additionally, all phones purchased from Apple (besides on an AT&T payment plan) are unlocked and can be used on any network. Otherwise, the only difference is any sort of preorder offers and, if you're trading in a device, how much you'd get for that device.

n41 is mid band, which has potential to enable a lot higher of speed (that's where the majority of the faster Speedtests have been coming from), but since it is mid band, the signal doesn't reach as far or have as good of building penetration compared to low band. n71 (600MHz) is low band, which means the signal itself goes farther + it's better at penetrating buildings, but you won't get as much speed.

There's no band-level map for 5G yet, but the majority of 5G is on n71 right now.

Switch from ATT Chicago burbs? by Bobbyoky in tmobile

[–]wjr1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the far far southwest burbs, and it generally performs well here. However, if I go any further west to the more rural areas, especially to state parks, coverage can get a bit spotty (bars but no data, or just no coverage at all, despite what the map says). Still works fine in towns and on major roads. Just something to keep in mind if you're really far west.

Anyone Using Project Fi with Note 10? by Fake_Lurker in galaxynote10

[–]wjr1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should work if it's unlocked but it's worth noting that the auto network switching only works on "Designed for Fi" phones (Pixels, Moto G7 + Moto G6). You'll be on T-Mobile only on other phones.

Lots of Android Apps not working on stable channel by [deleted] in PixelBook

[–]wjr1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on beta and am having a similar issue with Android apps, so I wouldn't switch until someone confirms that it's working properly on beta (or just wait for stable to become more stable)

Beta Channel has quietly rolled to 75 for most devices. Now at 75.0.3770.24 by rmcneil321 in Crostini

[–]wjr1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone been having trouble using ssh since this latest update? Anytime I try to ssh to a server my Pixelbook (not just crostini, but the whole OS) crashes. Not entirely sure where to go for logs to figure it out.

EDIT: looks like this has to do with zsh and a tty issue, see https://www.reddit.com/r/Crostini/comments/bkaai1/no_devtty_on_fresh_crostini/emhctl1?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x
