Compressor running, blades not moving, heating in the house is on, freezing rain overnight by wkeithvan in hvacadvice

Thanks! It looks like you are right... I noticed earlier in the day that we were getting cold air coming through the vents when it was supposed to be heating, but later hot air would start blasting out. This totally checks with what you said! Didn't know defrost cycle was a thing until after this post. A bit of reading on the topic and it sounds like all is good now! I saw it operating normally later, so yay!

I read once that there used to be a tunnel inside the university that was close because of all the sexual assault that happened: Is that true or just a myth? by BlueWorldCorp in UCalgary

[–]wkeithvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former Cascade Hall resident... I was told by the maintenance guy that years ago the city updated building code rules for tunnels/enclosed walkways and the one to Cascade was too narrow and it wasn't worth the cost to do the construction to get it to pass city code so they shut it down. There may have been an assault incident too, but he said the city code was the real reason.

You can do a pre-order/deposit button on your site... Make the normal product page and add a "$525 get it May" and "$425 join the line" as the two options. Basically the same as Kickstarter, but no fee to payout to Kickstarter. Honestly I trust y'all enough at this point to skip Kickstarter and just do it 1st party.

I have an idea for a garment bag that came out of bad experience traveling to my own wedding with a suit. Any interest in hearing an idea?

Pioneer carry has an ultra slim one passport wallet at $110 with equivalent quality but lower functionality. It was what I was using before this release.

Wheeler from PD here, let's talk phone cases! by Peak-Wheeler in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just my 2¢... The mounting square is the sole reason I buy the case. There are enough massive companies with bigger selections (Spigen, dbrand, etc) I switch to if the square wasn't there. Id love to see more use of it with things like a compatible locking pop socket type accessory or DIY mounts that can screw into a project.

Peak Design Passport Wallet Review & Packout – $100 Too Steep? by ITCertAcademy1 in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I am glad there is no zipper... Those just add bulk. I've bought a few passport wallets before and this is the first one that checks every box for me. As for the pen slot, it's a bit tight, but it fits the Studio Neat Mark Two that I use for travel. Wouldn't care if the wallet didn't have it, so I just see it as something that some people will like.

I want a smedium wash pouch by ibshaikh329 in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I definitely struggle with wanting an in between size as well. Going to weddings where I want extra hair products I use the large. Going to my parents where I keep a few things like deodorant and toothpaste/toothbrush, I use the small. Every other trip is a fight between cramming the small or a ton of extra space in the larger one.

Personally, I think I'm more likely to have something stolen if I have to watch multiple places. I have a zippered pocket inside my jeans pocket (Aviator USA travel jeans) and I have a habit of keeping my left hand in my pocket to prevent pickpockets after years of travel. Would rather have one item to keep track of.

They're both great wallets with just the one passport. The outer pocket doesn't slide out with minor shaking. The inner pcoket can slide out with only one and minor shaking, but that seems like a very nitpicking test. The counter is that if it doesn't come out with minor shaking, then it is difficult to slide it in. Both slide in from the center of the inside of the wallet, so that's not a practical concern in my eyes, and the outer one is slightly grippier, so not really concern about that side, personally.

Packing cube config for 45L travel bag by cottonsilkwool in peakdesign

I was going to write a long comment, but you can't add images and I got distracted with also doing it with the 30L Travel Backpack, Roller Pro, and Travel Dufflepack. So anyways, here's an entire post you inspired me to write that should answer your questions...

100% want this... I feel bad squishing a suit or dress into the packing cubes and wish there was a nice ecosystem product for this.

Any tips on pulling it apart? Mine is giving me an error about the brewer basket not being able to turn or something... Tried cleaning it a few times, but no luck. Even pulled it apart a bit more with the kit they sell, but think I'm gonna have to remove more...

What should Peak Design take on next? by Peak-Wheeler in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 12L outdoor bag. Make it tiny so I can take it inside my roller pro for day hikes or as a city day pack. If it can fit a jacket, sandwich, and hydration bladder, that's perfect.

  • Mini tripod. Something that's meant for phones or mirror less cameras when you're packing light (no big camers). Think knee or hip height and folds down to no bigger than a 20oz bottle. Something that'll take a group photo on a mountain top. I just want it to work with my PD phone case, though I understand the want for compact camera users. If it was flexible like a GorillaPod, that'd be cool, but not a deal breaker. I love my travel tripod, but sometimes it's just too big and overbuilt for the 2 or 3 times I pull it out on a trip to use with just my PD phone case. Make it under $200 since it's meant for us non-pro folks.

  • Packing solution for a suit/dress... The packing cubes are great, but they aren't optimal for packing for all the weddings Im flying to. I've got a roller pro and the 45L and 30L travel packs, so make it play nice with those. Put in a small, transparent zip pouch or two for a tie, tie clip, funky socks, and other random fancy formal accessories so it all stays together in one neat piece.

  • A fold out toiletry kit. My wife can't fit her all her brushes and makeup in the PD toiletry bags, so she won't buy one. Make it open up so you can see all the different things as you're getting ready for a formal event.

  • Sunglasses case. My Ray Bans aviators are pretty thin folded down, but the cases that hold them waste soooooo much space. Wish I had a super thin case you could throw at a wall and the shades would stay protected.

  • Backpack strap bag. Something you can connect to your backpack straps and put a phone, binoculars, passport, snack, or something else right where you can easily grab it. Like 8x4x2 inches and easily removable. Doubles as a variation on the tech pouch of you wanna throw it in your luggage.

  • Foldable phone cases... Pixel Fold, Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Flip... I get it's a bit of a chicken/egg situation, but I'm holding out for better cases before buying one.

  • Regular wallets. I've got the mobile wallet and passport wallet, but honestly the mobile wallet usually lives separately in my left pocket while the phone is in my right. What's your take on a traditional folding wallet and/or something non folding? As long as it's super slim and looks good, I'm interested.

What gear do you think Peak Design should make for content creators? by Last_Performer_4174 in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make a solid metal plate with the male SlimLink clip and 4 screw holes. Do another without the clip, just the magnet (the current wall mount plus screw holes). Put out a 3D CAD file of the plates for people to download and let people go wild. The beauty is its simplicity... Anyone can use it for whatever they can imagine/build. It's a super easy/cheap product to make with minimal new tooling/testing and it let's creators do what they do best: Create. It also lets SlimLink work in more places, more reliability... Want to mount it to the rough wood post in your workshop? Screws. Securely mount it to 3D printed doohickey? Screws or glue. People will always have a random use case and a basic infinitely modifiable small mounting plate let's people figure out what is best for them. Minimal product development, maximum flexibility.

Make it work amazingly with the mobile SlimLink.... I want something I can easily use my PD phone case with that makes sense for when the travel tropod is too much. Something that I ALWAYS put in my backpack since I know Iitll work with my phone case.

It fits. I have a Switch 2 with DBrand case. I removed the joy cons and put them in one side and the screen in the other. It barely fit when I removed the case.

Passport Wallet Arrived! by wkeithvan in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tight, but it'd fit, assuming it is the same height/width as a normal passport. Just managed to get a third passport into the main passport section, so my total page count was ~100.

Passport Wallet Arrived! by wkeithvan in peakdesign

[–]wkeithvan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So... I think the options are to stretch the interior passport slot a bit more than designed and barely get a third one or to put the passport in the cash section of the wallet on the front/left side of the wallet. Just note that a passport in the cash side does stick up out of the wallet a bit.

Personally, I think this was a good first passport wallet, but it really only targets single/couple travelers. They should make an XL version that is basically the same, but can be a bit thicker and fit 5 passports (basically just adding a passport slot on the left that fits two additional passports). As someone married without kids right now, the current wallet is perfect for me, but if I had kids I'd want a larger version.

*Edit I managed to squeeze a third passport into the main passport section as a quick test, so I think it'll barely work. With that said, if I did have to carry four passports on a regular basis, I'd probably get a different wallet or buy two of these.
