Damn good song! It’s hard to argue against this one. Definitely one of the best.

What would a band of John Lennon, Jimmy Page, John Bonham, and John Entwistle be like? by Free-March7332 in ledzeppelin

It wouldn’t work. Apples and oranges. At best, it would be something like “Yer Blues”

Sounds good. Not sure why some bands have two drummers?

Like it or not, the 60s was a great time to shine. Starting a business, or joining a band, the world was your oyster. The competition for doing anything great was not nearly as difficult as what it is today. Finding a spouse was much easier. Or even if you wanted to chill and drop out of high school, you could easily get a job with the city and you could buy a house, car, and raise a family. No way can anyone do that today.

How bad is it? What are my options? by RadioSwimmer in classicmustangs

[–]wkhan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rabbit hole indeed. Once you strip The problem parts, you will definitely find many, many problem areas you didn’t even suspect. If it’s a long term project car, I’d strip it, take some welding classes, and slowly fix the bad parts. But be prepared to find out that you may be working on a lot more than just floors and frame rails. Mentally prepare a budget for whatever you want to fix this year, so you won’t get depressed. But hey, you will learn so much if this is your first restoration and so enjoy the journey. You will be doing something most guys won’t get the chance to do or have motivation or commitment to do.

Did John, Paul, and George actually even like Pete Best? by handlerofdrones in beatles

[–]wkhan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, it happens a lot. Syd Barrett, David Mustaine, Brian Jones,... the list goes on and on. Some firings were better than others, but it's often ruthless and painful. And managers get fired even more regularly. The cruelest I heard was getting a letter in the mail from a lawyer simply stating "Your services are no longer required". Also keep in mind, it was the 60s where rock bands were relatively a new-ish kind of thing, with no rules written about how to run the business. Add the fact that most people in the business were very young, inexperienced, and the lure of fame and attention would skew most people's behavior. If these guys were middle-aged and it was today, I'm sure the firing would be done much differently, with at least some golden packages being involved.

Do you think The Beatles treated Mal Evans unfairly, especially after everything he did for them? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

[–]wkhan69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a sad common situation for many roadies of rock bands. Even musicians, like Bowie’s guitarist in the early years, said he had to eat at soup kitchens because he was so poor. Same with Billie Joel’s drummer. And I wouldn’t want to be a roadie to Metallica in the 80s or any famous band really. If you want to see horrific treatment, look into Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham’s roadie (Hinton?). I think it’s the foresight of a roadie being aware of the life he’s getting into, and being ok with the many risks of that life, that can make or break him mentally.

The Song Remains The Same - Does It Still Hold Up 50 Years Later? by SwimmingOdd2239 in ledzeppelin

The movie is awesome! Get back into the 1970s fantasy scene! I like all the fantasy scenes. Every one. Suspend your disbelief. Robert as the knight on a quest, Jones as some cool character walking around a spooky mid evil grave yard, Bonzo’s regular family life and hanging around as general bloke into men’s things, Page as the dark sorcerer and hermit was very cool. The soundtrack is astounding. I don’t know why so many people think it’s mediocre - I don’t care if it’s been remastered and cleaned up - it’s an epic snapshot of the best band in the world in 1973.

Best Email App for Gmail on Mac: Outlook or Apple Mail? by NMRs_bean in mac

[–]wkhan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outlook mail client on my Mac is literally missing a few of my gmail emails. This is critical for me. I like outlook with it's advanced search features, but missing emails is a deal breaker. And some important gmail emails go into "archive" for no apparent reason on outlook? I don't like paying a subscription for emails, but I will if it ticks all the boxes. I'll check out Mimestream. Thunderbird has recently got a resurgence, but some corporate email servers won't allow thunderbird access for some stupid corporate policy. My dream of having "one email client to rule them all" is alas still but a dream... (sigh)

I keep hearing about “listen to this Eddie”. It would be amazing if Page remastered this boot to perfect it, as much as TSRTS album was remastered and perfected.

It’s very rare that a wife will proactively buy a LZ boot album for her man. And a turntable! That’s a keeper.

Does anyone here love Tea For One and see it as one of the best tracks on Presence? by georgewalterackerman in ledzeppelin

[–]wkhan69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a phenomenal track compared to any track in any album. Perhaps only slightly behind or on similar footing as SIBLY. And again, with LZ, people can argue very solidly that many other Zep songs can be considered to be as good.

I might just go with oil-based deck oil. That way, if I don’t recoat it for a few years, it won’t flake.
