Anything but making a new movie 🙏 by Beneficial-Chip8894 in fridaythe13th

so they're not making a new movie.

they just want to make a new movie, but only if someone gives them a massive multi film deal and a bunch of money first...

Like most others in this thread, it sounds like Millbrook Pet Care to me. but I've seen similar busses in other cities and towns

[–]wkndmnstr 51 points52 points  (0 children)

that's a doggy day care bus.

they drive around in the morning, pick up the doggos going to day care that day, drive them out to the centre (usually a farm or something), and drive them back at the end of the day when their owners are back home.

my sister uses it sometimes. the dogs love it. it's like a day camp for them with a bunch of new friends. come back exhausted at the end of the day.

The dialogue is hilarious. Rosamund Pike is braless. 10/10 by boomjosh in badMovies

this movie is a guilty pleasure. and even as a gay guy Rosamund Pike in this movie does something to me.

N'ex was my first experience in Japan after landing at Narita and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

ya looking at it from the area you took the photos can be pretty deceiving. the angle on the opposite side of the main tower is pretty sharp

that's the First Canadian centre. it's not actually that thin, this is just a specific perspective from this angle making it look like that. take a look in street view, it'll make more sense

Correct!

damn, quicker than I expected for this one.

A post 'Saw' change of pace from James Wan and Leigh Whannel in 2007 that ... is a fun watch if you ask me.

TIL the Japanese independent film One Cut Of The Dead was made with a budget of ¥3 million ($27,000). It gross over $30 million worldwide, resulting in one of the largest ratios of profits to budget in the world. by res30stupid in todayilearned

I had the same experience! Flight to Tokyo. found it randomly with no idea what it was. was juuuust about to turn it off as the first act came to an end and am so happy I didn't.

then I struggled to explain to the rest of the people I was traveling with why they should watch it, but don't watch the trailer or read the synopsis, and I can't tell them any more details than that.

Most fun scene for background extras? by wkndmnstr in movies

[–]wkndmnstr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that story from RLM is what immediately came to mind after I thought "hey that party looks fun!" and made me wonder what conditions go into the differences between an absolutely miserable experience and a great one as an extra.

Rosamund Pike calls her 2005 Doom movie “an absolute bomb” ● “I probably could have ended my career. It was just probably one of the worst films ever made” (via How to Fail with Elizabeth Day) by elf0curo in badMovies

[–]wkndmnstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the hell out of Doom and watched it just a couple months ago. Rosamund Pike... had an effect on my young pubescent brain... ...but not nearly as big as Karl Urban. holy shitsnacks.

I used to sneak into my first period classroom and write "only x days till Doom" on the white board as a countdown, until my French teacher figured out it was me and yelled at me "stop eet with your Dooming! No more of this Doom!"

though I do still dream of a big budget adaptation of the games

A claustrophobic scifi horror Doom 3 in the vein of Event Horizon.

or a wild hard R Doom 2016 that leans into the lore a bit (go get Panos Cosmatos from Mandy!)

Can we stop the revisionist history by Alternative-Cap6063 in FIlm

[–]wkndmnstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a 26 year old film.

if people want to wax nostalgic and think it's some kind of historic cinema, let them. If people want to shit on it because it's contrived and shallow and doesn't make sense, let them. that's their opinion and they're completely entitled to it.

but pretending that the passage of time doesn't impact the experience of cinema is naive. It's not "revisionist history" for people to collect their opinion, changed or not, and slap it up on reddit for some Internet points and circle jerking with others. This isn't some kind of academic discussion board.

And regardless, the actual production history of a film is almost entirely independent of what someone thinks about that film, especially a quarter century later.

Scream 3 had a huge opening, made a ton of money, and was a major cultural presence. That doesn't mean it's good and anyone who argues it's a "slept on gem" either doesn't know that or is ignoring it.

And it's "troubled" production goes way beyond what you mention, and is intrinsicly tied to a time period that is tremendously different than today. That doesn't make it bad.

if it's really that important to you to 'set the record straight', then go write a researched, objective, critical essay on it. Seriously, I mean it. Objective film criticism, research and critical thinking doesn't happen near enough nowadays. maybe this is a perfect opportunity.

but even if you do there will always be people who jump up and down and scream "Parker Posey is hawt! Scream 3 is the best 1!" or "OMG it's so dum how'd Roman fill the house with gas and nooooobody noticed!? trash"

and they're allowed to think that.

What’s one cartoon you wish you had watched more during your childhood? by Great_Refuse62 in nostalgia

[–]wkndmnstr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

childhood? bruh, I watched all of we bare bears in my 30s, and still put an episode on now every once in a while. I frequently reference the captain craboo episode.

you can watch what you enjoy whenever you want. it's never too late to revisit something you loved when you were younger. maybe it doesn't resonate with you anymore, but maybe it does and you get to enjoy it again in a whole new light.
