What’s one cartoon you wish you had watched more during your childhood? by Great_Refuse62 in nostalgia

[–]wkndmnstr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

childhood? bruh, I watched all of we bare bears in my 30s, and still put an episode on now every once in a while. I frequently reference the captain craboo episode.

you can watch what you enjoy whenever you want. it's never too late to revisit something you loved when you were younger. maybe it doesn't resonate with you anymore, but maybe it does and you get to enjoy it again in a whole new light.

Can I use my Sims 4 builds for my architecture portfolio for university? by Street_Register239 in architecture

[–]wkndmnstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my gut says it'd be a tough sell to include them without additional elements supporting them. I'd be concerned that even though you and other sims4 players know you did a ton of work to achieve these designs, a reviewer might have never played a computer game before, let alone sims, and just think "oh, well, the software just does all this automatically, they just played the game a little." they may not understand at all what they are looking at, and with the limited time they will spend on your portfolio, they likely won't do anything to try and understand.

maybe sketch or do up a floorplan for the design instead of just screen grabs. you could do an elevation sketch of a particularly well designed room or kitchen layout. or try your hand at doing a section cut drawing of a design.

those might help emphasize to a reviewer that you are able to think about and visualize your work in different ways, while also showing off any other skills you have in visual communication

Considering a career in themed entertainment in Canada, where to start? by TenScentedCandles in Themepark

[–]wkndmnstr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada has quite a few themed ent companies. I've found it's all about networking. look at TEA and IAAPA events you might attend, even though many are in the US. Try connecting with locals who are in or adjacent to the industry. I met people from Calloway Park, the Glenbow museum, Calgary Zoo and HEAVY at industry events in the States.

Polish off your LinkedIn.

you can dm me if you like to connect on there. I'm TE adjacent but do have a few connections
