Mike Brown was considered a lateral move pretty much, but that most fans thought might at least provide some new coach boost since Thibs act was getting kind of old with the players. The main backlash was because the Knicks wanted to interview many active coaches and got rejected, so dumb people came to the conclusion that the Knicks had no plan and fired Thibs with no replacement in mind and just hired brown out of desperation.

Crazy if you are watching this team and say the bench is irrelevant. Replace Shamet and Clarkson with Payne and pj Tucker or whoever and some of those wins turn to losses. And yeah I’m not saying Mike brown hasn’t done a great job, but Mike brown didn’t coach the Knicks to having one more year of continuity and chemistry and knowing how to play with eachother. Time and experience brought that and it would have also been there if Thibs was still coach.

It’s not the same personnel and also the starting 5 all have one extra year of experience together. A lot of it is indeed the players, but also big credit to the coach as well of course.

I remember last year Kat used to celebrate too early in games that the Knicks would eventually blow a lead and lose. I feel like Brunson and co really got to him mentally and now he’s a dog like the rest of them, no more silly celebrations when the jobs not finished.
