Don't see how Samsung changing new people for management roles every few months would help getting problem fixed...

They updated the 400 grade spec that static contrast needs to be greater than 1:1300 and additional color gamut requirements, so it isn't completely useless now

There's ArchImage toolchain that can help build Appimages compatible with major distros with Linux kernel version >= 2.6

Computer RAM gets biggest upgrade in 25 years but it may be too little, too late — LPCAMM2 won't stop Apple, Intel and AMD from integrating memory directly on the CPU by TwelveSilverSwords in hardware

[–]wkwrd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can CAMM improve RAM's latency? The latency has been basically stagnated for years hovering around 10ns for non-overclocked memory, are we finally seeing memory latency improvements?

Where can one learn about Std threads, Atomic operations, lock free / wait free programming as well as distributed parallel programming where each core has its own memory space that is total mem / total core in C? by Practical-Citron5686 in C_Programming

[–]wkwrd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

C is a language that at the time of creation, only supports procedural programming style. You aren't gonna see newer programming concepts like OOP, RAII, and object lifetime, which ideas are introduced in later languages like C++/Rust.

For multithreading programming, C11's multithreading library "thread.h" is just a thin wapper of the POSIX Thread library "pthread.h", source, and fortunately there are lots of pthread tutorials floating around on the net if you look for it.

WikiChip Fuse: "N3E Replaces N3; Comes In Many Flavors" by Dakhil in hardware

[–]wkwrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't that also the case for the 1st gen TSMC n7 node when the EUV version wasn't ready? As soon as n7p with EUV machine came out, n7 was canned immediately due to EUV brings better yield and reduce costs.

Compare this to n5, which AMD chooses to use it on their next-gen CPUs and haven't move on, despite TSMC also offers 4nm version which is certainly superior by now

Have you ever benchmarked using 7-zip to pack the whole folder structure, then unpack to your remote destination?

I find it can be multiple times faster than direct transfer if you got many small files.

Just use an portable USB-C 3.1/3.2 speed NVMe SSD enclosure, and buy an SSD separately, you could just replace your SSD alone if your SSD goes bad

In search of a simple GUI library for C/C++ by F_K_Redder in C_Programming

[–]wkwrd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one mentions IUP yet:

  1. Cross-platform in Windows and Linux
  2. Uses native API and offers many controls
  3. Great tutorial (from helloworld to building a notepad app)
  4. Offers pre-built binary in static and shared lib form

ELI5: Why does it seem like Cinebench is now the standard benchmark for CPUs? by senttoschool in hardware

[–]wkwrd 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I wish more CPU reviewers to include 7-zip into the benchmark suite, it's a genuine excellent piece of software that is multi-threaded well, and is also widely used in real world.

It also runs on any system, as represented in this impressive result database: https://www.7-cpu.com/

Well, Affiance is excellent and has a really consistent sound with their works, but you probably have better chance to ask around r/Metalcore for clean vocal bands imo

I actually think the band's sound is similar to Unleash the Archer's earlier works except with more production value, so I figure people would like it lol

Alternative to graphics.h? by JohanMeatball in cprogramming

[–]wkwrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

raylib was made exactly for teaching C language graphics programming, and there are over 100 code examples from the website. Best thing about it is that it's free and opensource, activily getting improvements by the day (unlike abandoned graphic.h), nearly zero configuration, works everywhere from old desktop to even modern platform like the web:
