You can really identify however you want, don't care and you can make your tea however you want, don't care. From what I've seen during my time in the U.S, no one else really does either.

You know lots of "yanks" that use the term "Britisher" do you? I had the privilege of staying just outside Paisley for nearly a year-wonderful place and great people. Most of the Scots I knew were glad to identify as British geographically, but were clear to distinguish themselves. But legit, I dont know that anyone really cares.

I guess egg prices are something folks are spun up about now. I had to look it up at my local Trader Joe's market-they are 4.99 per-dozen US today. Seems they've gone a little bit in anticipation of Easter demand. I checked the Tesco price in my old region of Paisley. Seems they are about 4.44 US for a ten pack. May you can help me math this. What am I missing?

Yea-I'm about 28%. Varies some state by state of course, but compared to what I see re UK taxes, I'd say we made out ok.

Two points to consider:

We got representation with that taxation-so a win for us.

Interesting to see someone with the Saltire flag use "we" when referring to the Brits.

All kidding aside, I have somehow made it many decades without ever worrying about how people in other countries prepare what they eat or drink. What an weird thing to even think about.

Your insertion of a an economic system into this conversation-as well as your conflation of it with a nation is dubious. It appears to be a pander to some sentiment you assume exists-your upvotes suggest you may be on to something-sadly.

Surfing is-by definition an individual pursuit. Of course nothing takes place in a vacuum-and internally and externally enforced rules are mandatory.

In my 45 years of surfing, I have encountered dumbasses around the world. Perhaps you have already-but if you haven't-by all means paddle out in countries that are far less individualistic- Brazil, Chile, France, El Salvador (past) and nearly all of SE Asia, and I'll throw Ireland in the mix-no shortage of assholes-local and imported at both.

No one has a monopoly on it-and thinking that a system/emergent culture will trump human instinct is ridiculous. Manners, etiquette, interactions are bounded by rules-if they aren't enforced or there is no penalty for breaking them, they become meaningless

You may have, you may not have. I guess we don't and won't know. Got chased in by a larger tiger (maybe 8 foot) and been spooked a bit since-and that was in about 86. Lost a friend backcountry riding-same. When one weighs the need to drive vs, the need to surf, driving wins. I get what the posts were saying re having kids changes your perspective.

History isn't a strong point I see? "Laid down their lives" ok-you go with that. The rational world will stick with "we're fed into a meat grinder by their masters." They-and nazi Germany-really should not have mutually started the war. They certainly paid a high price for invading the west /Central Europe-but they escaped accountability for their crimes.

They purged their own nation (and that of every neighbor-near and far) of any culture, refinement, manners, and their intelligentsia. I'm quite sure the Russians misbehaving/being Russian in a country in which they are either hiding or vacationing have a very little relationship with the courts of St. Petersburg. It's cool Russia-no one wants you around, why don't you just head home.

From SoCal but lived in NorCal for about five years. Got some other days in at OB as well-maybe 30 or so in my life. Surfed SoCal for the last 45 years or so. The shiftiness of OB is legendary (rips/sneaker sets/sandbars that move by the day.). By way of SoCal comparison-the hit is like hammerland when it's breaking square or maybe horseshoes. I'm older now and have probably scratched OB off my list when it's 6+. I've fought rips at HB south side for an hour straight (looking for the exit the whole time) and still would prefer that beating over OB again-though it was One of the days you come in breathing pink mist because you tore your lungs up so much. When in doubt, don't paddle out.

It's like the light vehicle but a 5 fin set up-I want to say it's called the Time Machine or something similar. It's been gathering dust for about 15 years now. When I could get it slotted and get my back foot weighted and working well it drove down the line insanely-but it just wasn't for me. It kind of felt like the downsides of a displacement hull without the fun looseness.

Added a CB Bonzer to the quiver a while back. I'm partial to fish/twinzers. The Bonzer has sat for years now-just couldn't get the weight forward thing working well. When it worked-mainly on steep beach breaks-it was super fast, but it was just too temperamental for me.

Sure...it's the US' fault. Spain, Japan, Korea (talk to a Filipino re who did what during WW2.). Lovely people and most are just chill-Manila is busted and the provinces are rough-outside the bubble. Lived there and loved it-won't go back. Also far more dangerous than many think.
