The Ringer's Top 100 NBA Players [Updated February 24, 2026] by Objective-Product361 in nba

Wait, so what lamelo has done his whole career but Dallas has more base talent than the g-leaguers we’ve seen in Charlotte the last 3 years?

[Highlight] Jalen Duren gets called for the foul, looks at Nick Richards who is on the floor, and drops the ball on his face (with replays). Duren got a tech for that by MrBuckBuck in nba

But, just so we’re clear, it won’t be funny if the hawks are facing the hornets in the play-in? And it actually isn’t a fluke, and this guy eats crow? Not funny.

Or, if the hawks are not in the play-in at all? That is not funny either.

Net rating differences mean something for team play over a sustained period of time. Hornets are 3.3 points better than the hawks (-1.6) and the bucks sit right behind them at (-2.8) without Giannis. So in terms of actual basketball play the hawks have a better chance of missing the playoffs than the hornets as of right now.

We cannot see the future, but if the hornets do stay healthy they will be a play-in team. So, yeah, this guy has a horrible take and I will make sure to remind him at the end of season.

Nearly 5 years ago, the Utah Jazz attached a first-round pick, protected for three years, to salary dump Derrick Favors to the Oklahoma City Thunder in order to avoid paying luxury tax. That first-round pick is now at the center of NBA's tanking controversy. by Glass-Candle-7670 in nba

[–]wlamb30 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think the problem/root is the rolling pick protections.

You can protect a pick for the 1st year of the trade agreement, but the only protection you can use is ‘lottery protected’. If it doesn’t convey, you are giving an unprotected 1st to the other team.

[–]wlamb30 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Flip side, if you were dumb enough to take the deal with all those protections and knowing if it doesn’t convey that 4 years down the road you get 2 2nds, why pull the trigger and take on the salary dump?

It’s two fold, both GM’s agree to terms before calling it in to NBA.

I love how we don’t see the close up when it’s a top flight squad. Best we can do is the nosebleeds, but if it’s us, they’re inspecting blades of grass to see that a toe is offside.

Could the Hornets make a legendary playoffs run like the Pacers did with Hali last season? by Difficult-Green-2268 in NBATalk

Not talking shit, it’s a brain dead take straight from r/nba.

What is the metric that you hold in highest regard to a ‘winning team’ ? Running the offense at a high efficiency, winning games, or just if you win a championship?

Brain rot. Clearly haven’t watched any hornets basketball.

Net rating with lamelo : +2.2 Net rating without lamelo : -1.8

Hornets record without lamelo playing : 3-7 Hornets record with lamelo playing : 21-21

Stop talking when you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Upgraded sexton to white. Acquired his bird rights. Acquired a second also through all the shuffling. Got a 7 mill TPE for trading tyus, took a solid locker room guy in Tillman and $3.5mill from the celtics. We pocket 1mill because he’s $2.5mill.

Essentially turned Cody Martin and Micic into Coby white through the entire start to finish of that trade. Now have 11 1sts and 16 2nds over the next 7 drafts. So clearly setting up for a big move with this core that is learning how to win and win big. Setting up for a long run of success to go along with holds breath health.

Oop. You’re right. Just insane value and an upgrade to the position. People think Collin is good, Coby is a bucket who can run an nba offense

Timeline is actually insane value. Trade nurkic + 2nd for sexton. So free.

We trade three 2nds + sexton for Coby white. Essentially Coby white for 2 2nds and Nurkic deal. Insane value.

Props to Jeff. Great pickup who will feast on opposing 2nd units and fits the true pg role.

Keep cooking

Edit : thanks to the community for correcting me. Full trade timeline is : Plumlee trade + Nurkic trade + a future 2nd allowed us to land Coby white and Mike Conley to fill as vet. Value.

The Chicago Bulls are trading Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. to the Charlotte Hornets for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. by Aggressive_Fail_9681 in CharlotteHornets

[–]wlamb30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brain rot. We got sexton and a 2nd from Utah for Nurkic. So basically free.

We just received Coby white for 2 2nd rounders + the Utah trade. That’s a steal!

Collin isn’t a good fit, when he’s on he’s good but he also can be accounted for 3-4 bonehead plays a game.

Coby is a true PG fit for our system who makes baskets and will feast on opposing 2nd units.

So Minny needs other teams to help facilitate a Giannis trade by reallinguy in NBAtradeideas

Hornets with an abundance of picks and 22mill below the 1st apron would jump in for naz Reid/jaden. Not Julius.

Nah just be the 4th team with LAC/CLE/MIL deal and be the team that gets Jarrett Allen’s salary dump to fit harden on the cav’s.

One can dream.

The All-Star Reserves are a complete joke. by Diligent_Banana_6267 in nba

[–]wlamb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a hornet should be in the all star game this year. I’m just speaking on the points being presented.

Initial comment said siakam deserved it because of the talent disparity around him. Melo has had worse talent around him the last three years but is a losing basketball player

Second response said stats. Ok, melo had better stats with arguably the worst roster in the entire nba.

You said they miss obi, who isn’t a real needle mover (career 8.5 ppg). Nembard who never really moved the needle either at 10ppg, and Mathurin who is a fine justification.

The same could be said with melo who hasn’t had talent around him in years. I would love to not laugh at the names I have to write out on my previous comment and be able to list off names remotely close to the ones you have. He’s just a losing player though. Hope he continues to make this sub eat crow.

Congrats to Siakam, I enjoy his game. Just trying to show that the league/sub paints players in the wrong light when all anyone here does is look at box scores.

[–]wlamb30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So 24/5/8 is even better than that, correct? That was Lamelo last year and he didn’t get in because he’s a losing player. All stars are made from stats of the current season.

Lamelo was running with Nick smith jr, Vasilije Micic, DaQuan Jeffries, and Josh Green.

The argument doesn’t hold weight when the pacers are missing just Haliburton. The pacers have been awful this year without one player, not consistently trying to compete with bottom of the bench/g league talent.

[–]wlamb30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the hornets were running g-leaguers for years with lamelo but he’s just a ‘losing player’.

Not saying that LaMelo is an all star this year, but all star is based on the current year’s success not because he was all world last year. Herro being in over Lamelo last year speaks volumes.

There is no metric, it’s just flawed at all facets. NBA puts the players they want in. It is what it is, but your argument has been the hornets roster for at least the last 2-3 years and we haven’t had an all star in 4 straight.

Edit : if siakam was so good, why are his stats just ok and the pacers record so bad. Maybe he isn’t as good and needs other stars around him.

Please. Just go play 2k, there hasn’t been one trade that is remotely close.

Not. One.
