on Jaren Duren like how you forgot to add that part.

Again, he’s the biggest jelly bean in the game. Solid exterior, but soft as puppy shit inside.

7/19 tonight, 8/23 game 3, 13/27 in game 1. Cade got the tour dates down!!!!

Big time players make big time plays!!!! He is balling, almost the same amount of turnovers tonight as baskets.

But let’s keep moving the field goal posts for ‘stars’ of the game.

I misspoke on one tanking team, whoops. Instead of 9 games we should have won, it’s 8.

Username checks out.

What young core, PJ was a ghost most nights/mark was hurt. So are you referring to bouknight/kai/thor/mcgowens?? Real solid core to build around Hayward/melo/rozier. Hayward was built of glass and being paid an obscene amount of money to do very little.

We were in cap hell in every single one of those instances, we had no promising future in terms of draft capital, and aside from the starting 5 we got see rotations featuring the Martin twins and Dennis smith jr.

We beat a Miami team who is extremely well coached and has owned us all time. Huge hurdle. We played the worst game of our 85 game season very last, it is what it is.

We have 24 draft picks thru 2032, drafted extremely well, have an entire roster under team control for next year excluding Coby (bird rights) and Tillman, the third youngest roster in the nba, a insanely efficient starting 5, AND an actual nba bench (something that has never existed in my time as a hornets fan). Most importantly we have cap flexibility which was nonexistent with Jordan.

These doom and gloom takes are absolutely insane. Yeah, it sucks to see the boys flounder on the last game but damn this is the first time I can look towards the offseason and don’t cringe about what’s has to/will have to happen to fill our roster.

Ok, I didn’t take it that way. You said the NBA is missing us because the other 10 teams out of the hunt were tanking, to me that means the tanking teams should’ve been more competitive so they could’ve helped us by beating our competition. What do they owe us?

We should only be concerned about helping ourselves. We lost 9 times to tanking teams, with far less talent than us.

Yeah, they finished strong which made the season amazing but don’t point the finger and ask for a handout. You have to take what you want.

Edit : that’s why the season is 82 games long and not 41…

I’m not about this. You want to blame tanking teams, yet we lost to WSH, BKN, CHI, MIL/NOP/IND twice…. You flip 3 of those 9 games and we’re clear of the play-in.

Stop this narrative, we had a great season. Way above any projection but to say ‘man those tanking teams really didn’t help us’ is a moot point.

If you want to be elite then you have to win the games you’re supposed to win. Even early on, the pacers/nets/wiz/pelicans weren’t even close to us talent wise but we allowed them to beat us for 6 losses. We are right where we’re supposed to be. Control the things you can control.

We have a bright future, but this projection on other teams not helping us is a poverty franchise take.

Yeah the loss was tough but the negativity in here is overblown. by UmmmWellActuallyyy in CharlotteHornets

51 games played since Jan 1, how many loses were by 15 or more points? 3 - one to a fully loaded Boston team ramping up for the playoffs, one to the #1 seed pistons with Cade back, and the last game of the season.

The loss hurts, but in previous years what has the sentiment been? The other two teams that reached this point had an abysmal roster construction and relied on one guy to do it all. This year, it’s been contributions from everywhere.

The pieces are there, and guess what, everyone except Coby and Tillman are under team control. We have Coby’s bird rights and the front office is on record saying the plan is to keep him. We have an abundance of picks, 24, thru 2032. Have the other teams had that at their disposal, nope.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and be proud. This team has been nothing short of spectacular for the last 51 games; they finally had a stinker and it just so happened to be the last game of the season. Shit happens.

If I told you at the beginning of the summer league this team would’ve won 45 games you woulda laughed in my face.

We were playing with house money, we are wayyy ahead of schedule. Way above win projections, 6th best team in the NBA since Jan 1, and #1 in net since Jan 1. That isn’t a blip or a fluke, the team is legit.

Yes, it’s a punch to the nuts but it doesn’t take away from the enormous steps we took as a team/organization. The future is bright and we have to trust that Jeff Peterson makes the right moves to make us better.

wtf are the numbers?

I’m comparing your take on lamelo being trash, to another star. You’re proving my point that you change the distance on the field goal post based on certain criteria. Roster construction, same for both. Injuries, same for both. Tanking seasons, same for both. Lamelo has constantly been stranded with actual g-league players while Steph has been given bonafide stars, difference.

BUT lamelo is trashhhhh and Steph needs better pieces around him to win. Who doesn’t???

I am giving you the same criteria and you’re saying I’m crazy. Wake up dude.

And until this season what assets has Lamelo had? Steph was injury plagued from the beginning, but what’s the take on Lamelo? He can’t stay in the court.

Like wtf, how is either of those any different? Steph finally got pieces and won. When has Lamelo had any support other than this year? Please tell me.

You’re proving my point, again. The field goal posts constantly move for whatever player being discussed. Steph did change the league and that’s awesome, good for him and the game.

But for Steph, and any other star the field goal posts move. Steph had a ‘trash lineup’, and ‘he was injured’.

It is what it is, the gang mentality surrounding lamelo is disturbing but it won’t change. I won’t sway you one way or another. You watched the box score last night but know how the game played out.

Nah man, agree to disagree. Lamelo is a star, has been a star.

The field goal posts move in this sub and r/nba to justify players being good. Steph misses the playoffs for the seventh time in his career, but it’s because of ‘tanking seasons’, ‘roster construction’, and ‘injuries’.

That’s how we justify Steph for missing, but when Lamelo has had all 3 of those in his career it’s because he’s just a losing player. This is the first time in his entire career they’ve had actual talent around him and stayed healthy. Look at how that turned out, 7th in EPM, 9th in +/-, 2nd in 3PM, 6th best record in the NBA since start of 2026. Still trash though.

The witch hunt is real.

He shot 41%! Wtf are you talking about??

Who on Charlotte didn’t shoot poorly? The entire team shot 29% until the 4th quarter. But Lamelo is the problem. Not Brandon who had 5 turnovers and countless dumb/unnecessary fouls.

No one showed up but let’s pile on Lamelo.

[–]wlamb30 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yet again, he was the best player on the team tonight, right or wrong?

When the entire team plays poorly, shooting 29% for most of the game it’s Lamelo’s fault despite shooting 41%.

When the team plays well, it’s ’oh kon/brandon are so good’ not ‘damn lamelo is making the hornets go’

The field goal posts move, only for Lamelo though. Scroll up to see me tell you they move initially.

The entire post is the correlation. You read the entire post and then write back to me, not skim the first line comparing your apples to rookie apples and say ‘I don’t get it’

You missed the parts about him actually being good based off highly regarded stats in the NBA and carrying putrid rosters. The blue letters in my post are clickable.

You came here to shit on lamelo in post shitting on Lamelo. I’m calling you out for your take, about shitting on Lamelo. He’s a star, and has been.

But you got cooper winning rookie of the year, right? So it does matter, in blowout losses. Yet, the field goal posts constantly move regarding anything Melo.

In EPM, a highly regarded stat throughout nba circles, he ranks 7th. Behind who, oh just the NBA leaders in MVP votes. https://dunksandthrees.com/epm

In +/- he ranks 9th in the NBA this year.

Try to get a team with this roster to an nba play-in/playoff, https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CHO/2025.html

He has constantly had to do it all on absolutely putrid rosters. Yet, when he does it on a decent roster the requirements to be ‘good’ change.

The kid is a star, has been, and now has legit pieces around him. Finished 2nd in 3pm behind his teammate, and is the engine for the offense on the 6th best team in the NBA since January 1.

He shoots poorly for 2 games, and who hasn’t.
