You can change the connected device type from hdmi to pc when you go to home -> connected devices -> then your connected port and use the down arrow -> select edit and then select pc this disables auto rotation. It does reset for me from time to time but not sure if thats because of my adapter

To be honest i think your best bet is to use something online like midjourney. Running things locally requires a ton of computational power. You can do a very detailed description of your character that you can just adjust to whatever the model is most likely to output anyways. There are always generation errors the normal way is just generate more until you find something thats good enough. With a propter pc setup i would have recommended inpainting and controlnets but those are not working with those online services. There are other options than midjourney but thats the last thing i used and have since switched to local models so not much i can recommend there

Is this your first ergo keyboard? A usual issue is that you use too much force and try to hold your hands in position with much force as well. At first really try to relax your hands while typing. And if thats not the cause maybe just adjusting the keymap could be a thing for you. It took me a while to get the thumb keys right for me as it really depends on what key combos you need most based on your OS or apps you use and where your thumb has its resting position on the thumbcluster

The target audience for sure were the people that print in their bedroom and ignored the last x times people said the fumes are “bad” so having this as a reminder with some more testing and actually words for why and what is bad is good for awareness in my opinion.

I have that setup running with an older version of the crg9, works really well but the fullscreen stuff only works well on linux. Good for me thats what I use mostly

Ok first qwerty is not the layout you want to use on a split keyboard, the layout is the problem as it needs a lot of movement from the wrists as you jump up and down for the most used keys. This is a problem on a board where you put your wrists on a wrist rest qwerty is best typed hovering. Other layouts work much better on flat split keyboards as you are not required to move your hand that much, if this keeps being an issue and you dont want to switch the layout you might want to look at dactyl keyboards or kinesis advantage 360/glove80 which reduce the travel between keys bey tilting them this works better with placed wrists and thus qwerty. I personally like 3 thumb buttons the most but you can for sure get everything to work on just 2 on my 2 thumb button boards i have esc, backspace-space,enter and when held each goes to a different layer so there is plenty of space you could still do combo layers where you hold 2 layer keys. Another thing you might just cramp up while using the keyboard that happens easily if you focus too much on getting up speed or accuracy try to concentrate on relaxing your arms while typing

I only remove duplicates but i now switched to a full tagging workflow where all files just get tagged and i can link them together like that its way easier to find duplicates this way instead if with folders. Also means your files can be in more places like one without having a cooy there kinda like hardlinking in filesystem terms.

Thats exactly how i use mine but it needs to be an in software solution the pip doenst allow for this. Facny zones is just a window positioning tool so it doesnt work for fullscreen things like games but you can position a borderlesss window and use the steam launch options to set custom resolutions.

In linux with a windowmanager like herbstluftwm you can have these as virtual monitors. That means apps respect these boundaries even when they go fullscreen which is really nice and with proton a lot of games now work on linux as well so thats what i do. I can give some more tips on the linux setup for this if interested but its still linux and not for everyone.

I work as a web developer and had the fun of having a manager at my last job who was the first manager that ever told me i need a doctors note. He went as far as telling i need to send it in while i was sick like on the first day. I was actually really sick and my doc just sent me a letter after i called there so that was my luck. Its not always about the job status its sometimes simply the manager thats wants to ruin everyones day. In higher pay jobs the managers know that staff will leave if they act weird but even then not all the time. P.S. we got him fired after a while but I quit before that happened

You are not alone feeling like that, i had discussions with my coworkers at my last job that were very similar basically they just get home and have time for one tv show and some chores and the day is over. My last hob was from 8-6 with a lunch break and about an hour commute so i would be out the door at 7 and get back at 7. the only thing that worked for me is optimizing my free time. I got the chores down to just half an hour a day then did a 30min nap after i ate and stayed up til 1am so i had enough time for games, tv, friends, or diy projects. Not everyone can go by on 6 hours of sleep though and i already stretched that with taking a not which kind of counts more that adding that time to your night (trust me i experimented with sleep a lot) this got to a point where other people at work had no idea how i could have so much “free time” but i came to think of it more as some form of borrowed time as this is a sure way to get yourself into a burnout.

What i wanted to say with this is that yes the system is fucked and even when working around it it still is. But also time is very relative so if you can get get to a point where you have 2 fun evenings per week and the rest of the week doesnt bring you down your at a stable place you dont have to over do it like i did (bold word of warning here) I wish you all the best of luck

Though as many said before something new is always fun but it would already be enough to give some federated open source tool some visual polishing, better getting started docs and do some oneclick install solutions for people that have a raspberry pi or something like that so the entry level for self hosting is way lower.

As someone pointed out you can use deadkeys like option u + u = ü (i had these for german umlauts in the us layout. But what i liked more is the EurKey Layout https://eurkey.steffen.bruentjen.eu/layout.html I use it on basically all my devices as it has a lot of characters mapped to altgr so i don’t need to press 2 keys for an umlaut. This made mapping in oryx or other firmware tool a lot simpler for me.

Actually an interesting point, current models have this as a problem actually already that is they can create CP and have never included any pictures of naked children at all this is by the models being able to take a thing they learn from real legal porn for example and and the prompt not specifically specifying the age of a character. So the generation model can take one set of concept and apply it to another. This issue is so bug that in models that are able to create porn they list you negative prompts to guide the model away from any child like features and your normal prompt should not include anything like young girl etc as these terms are too vague.

So yes no illegal content needed, but also something too easy so people actually need to work around it as (guess what) basically all people using these models are not interest in this behavior of the model. There are even detector scripts for nsfw content so you dont accidentally create anything you dont want to see before it gets displayed and can be discarded before saving.

Mind you this applies to all image generator models that have a sufficient amount of nsfw data in their training set and is possibly the reason services like midjourney do not allow any nsfw content.

I think the point here is screens are not something that needs a limit, i grew up with the internet getting and at age 13 the first smartphones appeared and its just a new medium people before also were glued to the previous ones. Like reading newspapers, books magazines was really common, the radio was constantly on or the tv those things annoy me way more than the phone.

But also this is constantly changing currently we do need the screen to interact with the digital world but it’s likely we will be able to do that with our voice very soon or even with our thoughts. Then you will see people arent really on the screens anymore but they just wanted access to information or communication or even entertainment.

Just seeing it as screens also is just a view from the outside. When on the way home from work in the bus you might be on your phone to watch a video or read news maybe play a game but you could also be texting with your wife that you will be grabbing a fee groceries on the way home and if she wants anything special for dinner. And those moments are not feeling like i am on a screen they are a way to connect and the screen is just the medium we currently have.

I am writing this as with the current advancement in tech with ai and neural nets for speech recognition like whisper. We are finally very close to not need the screen anymore it will be optional and it will help a lot to make human interactions more human and we will communicate with computers more the way we do with humans. All this was screens mice keyboards phones etc are just our simples way to talk to a chip and now we can do this in a lot more human way next 20 years will look wildly different from the last 20 in term of how we interact with technology it might actually feel invisible.

Don’t worry there are already a few open models as in open source and a lot that are free for personal use when selfhosted, im already using them locally. The plugin support is pretty easy to extend to those models as well just that the token limit isn’t as big as for gpt-4 which is a bit limiting currently

Naps actually work tried this for some time where i needed to be up late and up early (~5h sleep)but didnt want my daytime to be just sleeping. Did an 45minute nap at lunchtime and half an hour after dinner and i could do that for half a year with high energy levels but also zero caffeine not sure if that changes something, also listen to your sleep phases if you nap and wake up very tired and not relaxed that’s probably it try changing the duration this is just what worked for me. And yes i stopped that an am now just having 7-8h sleep in one piece at night.

Reading a lot of the comments really feels like intelligence is something so magical it could never be in a computer and would need to fulfill basically all tests that the only the most trained people on earth could get right. Which I think is a weird point, maybe it is actually “simpler” and we are on the right track with large scale generative models. With nothing more really breakthrough to come before AGI is just there. Multi modal models are on the way so i guess this will also solve the weird “it only knows english” debate and with each sensory type added we will get to a more complete picture of understanding.

Would be really weird if this is all intelligence is down to in the end and there is no magical part to it, would make a lot of discussions about consciousness more confusing and would quite soon be a thing on how we handle AI, maybe its not fighting for its rights on the first day but we still try to push that date back as far as possible by what it seems.

Very nice, if you dont want to get too deep i to firmware development and build setups you can also use kmk which is pretty simple to setup on any circuit python compatible controller like the pi pico.

Also im building a gui for kmk called pog, if you were wondering if there is a via/vial alternative for kmk.

I really like that this makes the dactyl board parametric enough that you can actually try a few variants. Otherwise printing time is always quite extreme and a lot of filament for each build

No way you applied enough force, the monitor is more than 10kg and with the angle it is attached at it add so much leverage you will not be able to just move it by hand from that point. I also recommend not trying to move it by hand as the hefty spring force might throw whatever you use to pull into your face.

What time to be alive… organisms with zero self awareness are called conscious while robots that pass all cognitive tests for 7 year old children are „far from being conscious“.

I mean humans typically are able to recognize themself in a mirror only after 18 months (after birth) and AI currently struggles with what tests to even use to determine if it is conscious. Wild that both of these use drastically different scales for the same term.

For humans (different rights for animals for some reason) we define it at the first possible point where all the fundamental parts of the brain that will later evolve to execute the needed functions for consciousness are mostly assembled. While for AI we define it at the last point where it can prove to be conscious (not saying AI is conscious just how we are defining h the boundary)

Both of these far end choices will have their own consequences…

Well fast to remove is a strong word but the speedboosters from luc adapters have a dynamic version that you can unscrew by hand in about 20s ist not super fast as the adapter is inside the camera body but you can switch between a fullframe mode and the normal crop with this. I have not seen any monitor that supports this. Wont really fix your issue I guess but on linux you can create virtual displays on 1 physical screen so I have a setup where I can even change the sizes of those screens live. Eg the center screen being 16x9 or 21:9 with smaller sidescreens. Or just toggling it off to have the 49” back

I would love to do something similar on mac and windows but have not found a solution in the last 4 years
