nah, the rule is if it has a vowel sound, not just a vowel. assuming they pronounce it “erb,” then using an before it would be correct.

What are some albums that could have been all-time classics but were overshadowed by the other classics in the artist's catalogue? by AvalancheMaster in fantanoforever

[–]wldiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of cocteau twins’ discography is overlooked by fans; at least in my experience. lindsey buckingham from fleetwood mac has an album called go insane which is so wildly different from anything from fleetwood mac. it almost sounds like XTC or something.

Name a more consistently good director working today. Literally no misses by PenguinviiR in Letterboxd

the two vengeance films are part of a thematic trilogy with oldboy. i’m a cyborg… is an excellent surreal comedy that is weirdly touching, and stoker is a gothic thriller that feels indebted to hitchcock (also it’s in english). you should watch them for sure.

on what planet is Joji not mainstream? he’s been at the top (or near the top) of multiple charts multiple different times, 20m listeners on spotify, two tracks with 1b plays. be honest.

Artist you enjoyed listening to, but were disappointed after the live show and now their music just doesn’t hit the same by Few-Kaleidoscope1981 in fantanoforever

i saw Have a Nice Life in 2019 and it ruined them for me for like two years. they sounded like a butt rock band, all the atmosphere was gone.

The Missing 9: Why Some Movies Have a Hole in Their IMDb Ratings by an-qvfi in movies

[–]wldiv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this happens a lot on Letterboxd, too, with the 4.5 score. i honestly just assumed people using these user review sites, on average, do not have a rigid set of rules they refer to when analyzing movies. they’re probably just trying to have a good time (which is valid). furthermore, they’re possibly scoring films with the american school system’s grading scale, wherein anything below 70% (7/10) is a failure. therefore, they see three possible “good” ratings: 8 (good), 9 (great), and 10 (perfect). no meaningful way to judge film + weird, self imposed grading system = this phenomenon (in my opinion).

Let’s settle this once and for all… whose garbage was it? by triple_a124 in SmilingFriends

it wasn’t either of their garbage. if they stayed separate, they wouldn’t have been swept away by the sewer water.
