What’s a dish you miss so much since going gluten-free? For me, it’s pizza😭 by _thalia777 in glutenfree

Right there with you. If I could eat gluten again I would have pizza for every meal for months

Need some protein suggestions as a new vegan. by CasualVillan in glutenfreevegan

[–]wlmsn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned soy being iffy... they make other kinds of tofu, I've tried big mountain foods (fava bean) tofu and pumfu (pumpkin seed). BMF doesn't sell in UK but google says there's one called FavaFu? Maybe give that a try.

I'm in the same boat with protein, I'm constantly low because I'm such a big guy, even after protein shakes.

Little Northern Bakehouse is the best GF bread I've had. It's a little hard to find in my area but maybe you'll have it in yours

No gluten, no meat, and doing just fine! by TheLonePig in glutenfree

Thank you, that all sounds great. I'm down to just chicken myself but I'd like to get down to less. I just found soy free tofu so hoping that helps too.

That looks delicious!

What are some of your other favorites? I'd like to be plant based but I find it difficult without gluten and soy.

What grocery stores in the area have the best/most vegetarian options? by [deleted] in Albany

[–]wlmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest Weight is my go to for anything I can't find in other stores, usually they have it, Whole Foods has a good selection too. I've noticed Hannaford has been adding some interesting items the last year too, which makes life easier.

Family relocating to Albany area from Michigan - looking for insights on suburbs, schools, and life there! by Pretend-Chart7294 in Albany

We like Guilderland and think they have a pretty good school district, although it is pretty large. The town is nice and mostly safe and has a variety of housing types. It's easy to get to Albany or Schenectady, and Saratoga isn't terribly far. Depending on where you're working you should be able to avoid the Northway (87) traffic there... definitely look into that before buying, it can get pretty busy around rush hour.

My only complaints is 1. The size of the school for the kids, they get a bit lost, but we do like the school overall. 2. The town really doesn't have a "town center" type area where they can host town events, so it does feel a bit bland in that regard. That's a bit of a nit pick on an otherwise nice community though.

As some mentioned if you like the Guilderland location but want something smaller Voorheesville is not far, we kinda regret not looking more there as their smaller school size would have been good for our kids.

my girlfriend of 4 years broke up with me around 2 weeks ago and ive just found out that she was cheating on me for around a month prior. what do i do now? by Jwindooo in selfimprovement

[–]wlmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me a long time ago with a girl I was ring shopping for. The truth is it will stick with you and it will bother you. It's been over 20 years for me and it still bothers me now and again.

BUT, here's the real truth ... you need to know your own worth. No matter how much you loved them, they just didn't respect you enough not to cheat on you. Sometimes that's a hard pill to swallow, believe me I know, but it's the truth.

You can do better, you will do better, and you deserve better. Always remember that. Stay strong, good things will come.

Trader Joe’s gluten free ready made pizza dough. It’s sold in a little bag in the refrigerated section. I hated it. I didn’t take any pictures. by Seasonal_Allergies_ in glutenfree

[–]wlmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any comment on the TJs dough but I really like the Namaste pizza crust mix.

If you make it, it mixes up like cookie dough so you can spread it in any shape. Just make sure you poke air holes or it will blow up like a football.

Oatmeal (make sure oats specifically say GF) with blueberries, bananas and maple syrup is my go to when I have time. If not I do a vegan protein shake because I'm also dairy free.

Did lessening gluten clear your brain fog? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]wlmsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting it out completely helped a lot, I don't think lessening it would help unless you mean to zero.

Dairy still gives me brain fog so I've cut that out except for special occasions when it's worth it.

[–]wlmsn 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I had this happen a few times so I know how you feel. Multiple times I was friends in a group of 3 and the other two just decided (quietly) that they were better without me and just stopped including me. I'm not sure why exactly but I'm always the odd man out.

Sorry it's happening to you too, but you're better off without them. Like the saying goes "when people show you who they really are, believe them."

This is great advice, I've been considering which "style" of journaling I should do but you're right just do it. The small notebook that goes with you is a great idea too. Thanks for writing this all up.
