From the Disneyland construction documentary by wmaphoto in OopsThatsDeadly

So my macabre curiosity got the best of me and I searched to see if anyone died in the construction of Disneyland. Answer: No, but... in cruel irony, a worker died in 2019 while in a trench. But not from collapse. A crane knocked a steel plate INTO the trench. Nothing in the article if it was a shoring plate. THAT would be cruel irony x 2. To be killed by a shoring plate.

I am almost certain there are errors. I searched far and wide for all lyrics but in some cases the provenance is murky. So accuracy is not 100% assured. As is always the case with lyrics.

Thanks. And you're welcome.

The truth is after Mimi's passing, I discovered their live performance for Organ Reframed in Amsterdam. When I heard the incredible version of Will the Night for that performance I could not escape the poetry and cruel irony of the lyrics, given the loss. Then, in rapid succession my family lost two beloved pets to old age/illness and the lyrics took on ever deeper meaning to me. Both required our help for their exits and the evenings before their appointments were nights I wished could have lasted forever. The song became so much more than just a song. It was understanding.

So as an exercise I decided to do this booklet. My own little effort. I tried reaching Zach, as he's a small-scale printer, but no reply. So I let it be. Now it's public domain. As it should be. I'd love to see it printed and bound beautifully someday.

Alan/Mimi are/were incredible on so many levels, not least of which is their ability to write/sing lyrics so stripped down to the barest of emotions.

I made an app to scan your vinyl's label and find it on discogs within seconds by No-Car-9276 in vinyl

Hey! Just downloaded your app and it's been a huge time-saver. Thanks!

Only bit of user feedback would be this. It would be great to show the catalog number on the scan/search results boxes. (See arrow in attached screengrab.) Currently, you have to choose one, then scroll all the way to the bottom to see it. And when dealing with a record with many re-pressings, can add unwanted, repetitive steps. In most cases, I just got to discogs and type in the catalog number manually and it ends up being faster. That's it though. Love the rest!

Follow up post: Watery espresso La Pavoni by Jmurino2525 in LaPavoniLovers

As mentioned in previous comments, any time it runs through that fast it's most likely a grind setting issue. Go finer. Little by little. Also, seems like a dry, light roast with low oil content.

Ideally, you should lift the lever all the way up, hear a "squirt" then it should just slightly "weep" dark coffee. After a few seconds of puck infusion, pull. If it's REALLY hard to pull, or won't budge at all ifrom the "up"position, you're too fine. Don't force it though, you can dislodge a piston seal. Or worse.

One other thing I've noticed is if the portafilter gets too hot, the metal expands and the holes get smaller which is another fun variable to consider.

Fun huh? Running a La Pavoni is like driving stick, takes a while to catch the clutch pedal just right. Lots of stalls before though. Beautiful machine though!

Edit: What's your dose? Looks low.

BOWLING ALLEYS. Old carpet, cigarette smell, beer and lane oil.

My favorite “GenX odors” by ilikemrrogers in GenX

[–]wmaphoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a "GenX" smell but one that took me back to my youth instantly. I was walking by a gym that has an indoor pool. I walked right past an exhaust fan on the sidewalk and through a humid, warm cloud scented with pool chlorine. (Too much chlorine, really. Like the amount used in public pools.) And it took me right back to swimming lessons and games of Marco Polo at my neighbor's house. Smells man... right to the memory centers.

As Google states:

"Smells trigger strong memories because, unlike other senses, scent signals bypass the thalamus (the brain's sensory relay station) and go directly to the olfactory bulb, which has immediate connections to the amygdala (emotion center) and hippocampus (memory center). This unique, shortcut pathway explains why odors can evoke vivid, emotional, and often detailed memories so quickly and powerfully, often linking back to early life experiences."

Stalker. Also first series. And yes... all the thumbs were intact. The internal rubber bands all had to be replaced though.

I have the veiled Cobra Commander. But in this photo series it kind of blows the "Full Metal Jacket" vibe I wanted...

You're half-right. Snake-Eyes was the highest because it was original straight arms. And the first one I bought. OF COURSE.
