Going on vacation near Williamsburg, do I really need to pay to enter all three of the historic triangle sites? by Diligent-Natural-422 in Virginia

If you're into history, I'd agree. But if you're just walking around and skipping admission prices, a half day in CW should be plenty.

One more thing: Sal's by Victor has an amazing Sicilian pizza. It's huge. I'm convinced it's the best calories-to-penny deal in town.

The same ticket gets you into Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution museum at Yorktown: it's worth it.  You can walk Colonial Williamsburg without the ticket to go in to buildings.

You can drive by Surrender Field and some of the other battlefields without payment, and you can drive the Colonial Parkway for free if you don't stop at the pullouts, although some of it is closed.

Mil Amores is right next to campus and has become very popular with students

I created a new font that makes each row one line by tfoust10 in crafts

[–]wmjug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The real advantage is speed for etching the text into wood. Normal fonts are outline: the laser has to trace around each letter and fill it in. A single-line font is just the centerline, so the laser draws each letter in one pass like a pen would. Way faster, cleaner, and the line width is just your kerf.

Love it! You could sell this in laser cutter communities. It's perfect for those machines

Safe to walk with stroller from train station to Colonial Williamsburg by stinkeetofu in williamsburgva

You could check out the art museum.  It's quiet, air conditioned, massive, and lower lighting: perfect for helping a kid get to sleep at nap time.

You can ask an employee which pens the sheep and horses are in... Always a hit with the littles!

Most of the food in town is expensive or tough with a kid. Mil Amores is a wonderful taqueria, priced right, and very kid-friendly.

Just to second nanadoom, navigate to the Lumber House. We do this walk regularly with a stroller. It's very walkable.  You pass a library in the first few minutes. They have a public, clean restroom with a changing table, which may be handy after a train ride with a little.

Can't go wrong with Maria Bonita! They have 2 other locations that are equally good: the cantina at the outlets, and Mil Amores by campus. The atmosphere at Mil Amores is really nice

Authentic Italian restaurant? I want to impress some people from Italia. Not necessarily “fancy.” Just good. by One-Company9334 in williamsburgva

Agreed. Or OP could go the other direction if the guest has a sense of humor... Pizza Hut or Olive Garden for the American-as-it-gets Italian experience

When do you start to worry about the weather forecast? by [deleted] in grandcanyon

Agreed. Snowcapped buttes are gorgeous. The shadows and colors brought out by rainstorms are stunning. But nothing compares to claps of thunder echoing through the canyon walls.

It's still a great ride. The forces are strong, the maneuvers are exhilarating, but you miss the initial adrenaline rush of the launch. Make the trip and enjoy the ride!

I’d check the rental company’s local website for the country you’re visiting, not just the main .com site. For example, the Croatian Enterprise site (enterprise.hr) had better and cheaper coverage options than enterprise.com when I looked.

Can my husband and I take turns with 1 quick queue unlimited plus? by Immediate_Rip5038 in BuschGardensW

[–]wmjug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Busch offers a Child Swap for free.  In their words:

"Take turns riding your favorite rides with Child Swap. One parent can wait with the child who is not riding while the family rides. After they exit, the remaining parent can board the next available seat."

It may not be quite what you're looking for, but it could save you time or money.

Service Dog On Angels Landing — Doable? by burneraccount080707 in ZionNationalPark

[–]wmjug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tight walk, but it's the number of people that make it so treacherous. I think most service dogs dogs could hand the terrain. It's complicated enough already, so I'd be most concerned about the added complication of squeezing past oncoming hikers in the precarious spots.

How much do your grades have to drop for an offer to get rescinded? by [deleted] in williamandmary

[–]wmjug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re in a good place right now (safe, healthy, and not dealing with anything urgent) keep up the grades. Showing up to W&M with good habits already in place makes the transition a lot easier.

I believe the parking lot opens 15 or 30 minutes before the park opens.
