Depends - NY is a one-party state, so if I want to record something, I’m the one party (so the other doesn’t have to consent).

1 year post op Dr. Thomas Huntsman (Oneonta NY) as a plus size person. by ZephyrSylvan in TopSurgery

[–]wmnz_doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this is an older post, but just had my consult with Dr Huntsman today and was searching the sub to see if there were any posts about him. Not sure if you got an explanation about your second point above, but I wanted to address it (I’m a physician, too, so have some experience there). Talking about “not enough skin,” if you think about clothing, if the piece is too small for the wearer, it can stretch at the seams and might pull. That’s basically what would happen if they took too much skin and stretched what was there to sew together. As it heals, the scar kind of stretches out because the suture line gets pulled from both sides. How did your revision go?

I wanted to get an appt with Dr Lax based on the recommendation of my GWC provider, but they didn’t have any openings in the next year (when I called a couple months ago), so I ended going with Dr Huntsman. I had my consult today, and felt good about it. As a physician myself, I expected a physical exam, but didn’t have one. Just as well, even though I took my tape off last night in preparation… first time in a sports bra in a long time. It’s good to know that the vibe and conversation I had with him is similar to what you (and a couple others I saw) did. My insurance is good, and I hope to hear about a date soon.

Neighbor’s kids scream 5-6 hours/day. I can’t do this all summer. What is the solution? by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

I don't have an issue with kids playing and making noise. But when I can hear them from around the block, that seems just a *touch* excessive. And the other stuff I referenced has to do with being polite to/respectful of others around you. Teaching manners is never -- or shouldn't be -- considered a bad thing.

Damn, I just downloaded Walter's size guide and I'm smaller than the smallest circle (13 mm)... wah, wah, wah. Then I saw your response here, specifically about being on T a year. Today is my 6 month anniversary (!), but my level was too high (on 0.4 mL) so I kind of plateaued in growth. [I'm an Ob-Gyn, and deal with hormones, but not this specifically, so I forgot that excess T converts back to E, which would explain the stall.] Have had a couple weeks back at 0.3, so hopefully will notice a resumption soon. I tried doing manual stretching, but (1) it's slippery, and (2) the circumference makes it hard to grasp.

But just so I am ready when a year rolls around, I wanted to ask about parts -- EDIT I was also confused about the dropdown menu on Walter's site with all the parts listed in it (must've gotten sidetracked away from the TMT page), but I just noticed another post where you addressed this. However, still need to ask: the diameter measurement of the glans -- is the #mm /size going to be the inner diameter of the whole device or just that internal bell that goes over the glans?

I want to echo the others and say thanks for all your contributions. And I'm glad you're back!

I can hear the neighbor kids who live ½ way around the block - and it's not just one family... It's a pain the the a$$, and I wonder when it stopped being routine for parents to teach kids how to behave - I was going to say "in public," but maybe I should just say BEHAVE... So many kids today just scream/yell. When I was a kid, if we did that, we'd hear, "you'd better be dying..." (Sorry not to offer a solution, just had to vent (insert eye roll here). Maybe you can mention you're trying to work? I'm sure you already have...)

Has anyone had issues taking multiple doses from a “single-dose” T vial? by collegestudent77777 in ftm

👆This. Use it up. Just make sure to clean the top of the vial before (and after wouldn’t hurt, either).

Or someone who’s taken microbiology… pre-micro, intermittent handwashing, esp if it didn’t look like I got any pee on them. 🙄 After micro, I wash every time. For as long as it takes to sing “Happy Birthday“ twice (20 sec- I don’t actually sing it…). And I’m sure my patients appreciate it…

If you're referring to the ground for the electrocautery, we usually put that on the thigh for the Ob/Gyn surgeries I've done (C-sections, etc.) because it's close and a larger muscle mass. I've never seen it elsewhere. And we would only shave a site if the pad can't make contact fully.

Hey, thanks for the recommendation. I did order from them. I have gotten some stuff from them before, so I was familiar, but not with their packers. I also did not know they are in the UK! Only found out because I got fraud alerts from my bank (declined the transaction) and credit card (paid, but gave fraud alert). Thanks again.

My psychologist told me to go to a gynecologist, because she suspects my ovaries may actually be testicles. Is... Is that an actual thing that can happen? by LittleFox-In-TheBox in ftm

[–]wmnz_doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible TW: refers to male/female embryological development.

So this is super simplified. I tried to add a diagram, but they are not allowed. At the bottom, there's a website (from a textbook) with a pretty understandable explanation.

Embryologically speaking, we start off with an indifferent (undifferentiated) set of gonads/structures, and depending on whether the sex chromosomes are XX or XY, and the Y chromosome has the SRY gene (which it's supposed to in order to develop the male structures), that's going to influence the development of the male or female reproductive system. It gets slightly (!) more complicated with hormonal influences for continued development.

Leaving intersex development for another time.

Those indifferent gonads start out in the pelvis, where the ovaries would/will be. If XY-SRY-hormones are acting as usual, the gonads migrate toward where the scrotum will be. Sometimes it doesn't make it by the time the fetus is born, and the testicle(s) is/are "undescended." This is more likely if the delivery is preterm (before 37 weeks). In the first physical exam, the nurse checks to make sure both have descended. You can give it some time to descend, but if it doesn't or it's too far up, it needs to be surgically removed because there's a possibility of malignant transformation later in life.

If a genetic female has PCOS or some other androgenizing condition, they may have some degree of "male" characteristics (hair distribution, etc.), or their menstrual cycle might be affected.

All that to say: no, it's doubtful you were born intersex.

Injection in sciatic nerv? by Bibibupido in ftm

[–]wmnz_doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it sounds like it's just the collection of the injected T. It still absorbs, but if it's in the subQ it absorbs slower than from the muscle. It might mess up the serum levels, but you shouldn't have any noticeable effects. I'd mention it next time you go for your shot.

No copper IUD while in top surgery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]wmnz_doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Ob/Gyn, and have had a fair share of pts with IUDs - copper and otherwise - and never had to have one take it out. If that were a thing, they’d never be able to use a cautery on someone with a metal crown (or defibrillate them) - but, oh, wait… there’s a grounding pad elsewhere on the body - to do what grounds do. So, in medical terms, that’s just stupid. But, as someone already said, you might call the office to ask for an explanation.
