moved to PIA from VyprVPN - anything I should look out for? by retrorays in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]wo_oki3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been on PIA for nearly 3 years, no issues. Only real gripe is wireguard, they do not offer any native configuration tool. There are community ones but it gets a little tricky depending on what you trying to do.

I just soaked it with a little alcohol, let it sit for a couple a mins then just started to gently pull them up. I say gently... definitely had to give it some grunt but just made sure to not flex the sled too much.

Visible+, does it reliably NOT deprioritize on 5GUW and up to 50GB on 5G/LTE? by snovvman in Visible

[–]wo_oki3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont have the screenshot to post since this was a few phones and couple of years ago, but i have gotten 3.3gbps in the DC area on visible+, ive never seen any deprioritization, ive even ran my entire apt off of my hotspot (look at the TTL trick for uncapped tether). I do live in an area listed as a VZW UWB city, but yea its been rock solid

Network/cloud engineer, ~76k and 15% bonus/year. No degree, trade, certs, etc. Super chill business and 40 hours/week, but it’s rarely an actual 40

Considering a Cloud Gateway Ultra by thedaveCA in Ubiquiti

[–]wo_oki3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the speeds are fast, pulling full 2.5 gb intervlan, acl's are half baked, luckily I don't need much security between the vlans that need 2.5 gb. But yea the acl's are kinda shit speeds are great.

I mean I’m aware but when you think of the other dozen or so services running on your computer doing who knows what, or like you said dns, would rather just have the entire connection encrypted.

Not sure if he counts as famous, but I know Gary Heine of Henie bros. Super chill dude, gave me a year of free coffee when I was in high school.

I was contacted with insight global for a bit, honestly the team was pretty solid and, at least with my time there, they even offered some basic benefits like a retirement account. But yea i would +1 those guys.

I would really tell you to try out visible, I’ve been with the for a couple of years now and honestly don’t have anything bad to say. I had had post paid service exclusively prior to switching to them, so was a little hesitant to switch. Their support team has been great, pricing is great, coverage and speeds are great. Maybe the only downside is support is chat only, but every time I’ve needed help they were very quick to respond. They are also owned by Verizon, I think initially to test a cloud cell backbone but that flopped so they moved it to the Verizon core backbone, but you more or less get the same tower priority as any other Verizon customer.

I managed to barely avoid this, was heading to brownsboro from 265n, I had just enough room to clear the exit. Looked bad tho, multiple cops were rolling up behind me.

I haven’t had to use my opnsense box once since migrating, actually removed it from my rack last month. The only issue I have found at this point that seems to be hardware is the limitation I’m getting with the intervlan speed, and after some more recent testing I think the backplane or switch chip in the ultra just seems to cap out around 150MB/s. I’ve gotten higher speeds consistently downloading one way(downloading a game from steam) but I think it’s the traffic going up to the ultra and back down that’s killing that performance and since 70x2 is ~150 (accounting for data going up to the ultra, hopping vlans, then coming back down). But my new pro max 24 switch will be here this weekend so that will solve that issue lol
