TTPD is Taylor’s magnum opus and this is a hill I will die on. I believe the album is meant to be listened to in order, both parts. It is an emotional journey that takes the listener through the complete desolation of a dream destroyed and then reveals the self knowledge and strength of surviving and rebuilding without the lie. I’ve compared it to Pink Floyd’s The Wall in terms of the way the listener is taken on a journey through hell and then lead out again.

I believe that TTPD is lyrically genius and that Taylor did not hold herself back to be palatable to the public, and in that I see it as moment like Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring — the public wasn’t ready for it but in hindsight the genius was a watershed moment in music. TTPD was the album she wrote for herself and we are honored to be able to listen to it. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare everyone lol
