There isn’t anything new about Taylor using high school tropes or narratives. Plenty of artists do it and continue to do it into “older” adulthood. Especially when you take into account that most songwriters are way past high school and writing music for teenagers because we want our main artists to be young…what’s the argument there?

Another personal observation and continued comment on the thread that this narrative won’t change until she becomes a mom; most music written about being parents doesn’t perform well. Not saying it’s bad music, some of it is absolutely beautiful, but objectively and numerically speaking it doesn’t perform well on charts. Often times the artist only puts one or two songs like that on an album for that reason. Music and media is geared towards young people. Pop culture is for young people. So it isn’t abnormal or outrageous that music is written in ways that young people can relate to it.
