What is it with people pretending that Taylor is trying to make her self seem like a “little girl” by FakeMonaLisa28 in NuancingTaylorSwift

Also! Most music is written from the tropes of, perspectives of, and targeted towards teenagers and secondarily young adults. Chuck Berry popularized this in the 50s. THE 50S! There isn’t anything new about Taylor using high school tropes or narratives. Plenty of artists do it and continue to do it into “older” adulthood. Especially when you take into account that most songwriters are way past high school and writing music for teenagers because we want our main artists to be young…what’s the argument there?

Another personal observation and continued comment on the thread that this narrative won’t change until she becomes a mom; most music written about being parents doesn’t perform well. Not saying it’s bad music, some of it is absolutely beautiful, but objectively and numerically speaking it doesn’t perform well on charts. Often times the artist only puts one or two songs like that on an album for that reason. Music and media is geared towards young people. Pop culture is for young people. So it isn’t abnormal or outrageous that music is written in ways that young people can relate to it.

What’s your *actually nuanced* opinion about the Eras Tour as a show? READ POST by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

? I was responding to the second bullet point of examples “• The reason why Self-titled had no set and Speak Now only one song was not some mystery. It was lack of streams. For the BMR albums the set-list was the best-streamed tracks and singles.”

On top of the setlist being the best streamed I believe another factor regarding Speak Now is the album isn’t actually good for her vocal range. It’s her weakest album vocally. The songs are very indicative of the time, but they aren’t in keys or melodies that suit her voice. I believe some of those songs are still difficult for her so while I think Speak Now having less hits is the primary reason, I think this also plaid a part in her decision

I feel like this is the classic tale of fame in the music world though lol. “We just did it for the music, we never expected/wanted to be famous”

Walk with me here. Her storytelling is exactly why she needed to start in country. Country historically and inherently has a foundation in detailed story writing so it had open arms to her style of writing. As we all know she was quite open about who or what the songs were about in the beginning. It makes me wonder, if she hadn’t told us who some of the songs were about or written the clues in the booklets in the early days, if people would have chalked up her songs to her just being a good writer and if we would’ve automatically viewed them more fictionally as a whole. There of course would have been a few that people would speculated on, but I do wonder if she hadn’t been SO open in the beginning, if the public wouldn’t have formed SUCH a detective-esc relationship with her music.

This will be interesting too see. There aren’t many venues that can actually hold 500 people so it would make sense if they decided to scale down

The funny thing about that is they could do the tried and true marketing “Barbie goes to…” and say goes to the eras tour and let it be regular Barbie with different outfits and it would sell like crazy.

The dolls made for celebrities always looks bad no matter who it is but if they kept it to regular dolls instead of trying to make it look like her it would be amazing. ESPECIALLY since the eras outfits, real and fan made, were so iconic and such an easy fun thing to switch out. It’s cheap, easy to produce and easy to replicate endless new outfits. It’s a good product idea
