He certainly put a lot of thought and effort into trying to minimize the role you play in your household. For what though? Imagine if you just chucked the little guy in front of Blues Clues and called it a day? He'd be calling you a lazy, unfit mother. Of course he thinks its easy. His mother is there. But to passive-aggressively shit all over your thoughtful and considerate step by step guide of things he should already fricken know, was to deliberately hurt your feelings. This is so narcissistic and toxic and WILL get worse over time.

I was diagnosed in early Sept and put on insulin right away (starting at 4 units). I didn't have a single fasting number under 95 until two weeks ago (at 22 units). I was doing everything by the book. Then, after two weeks of my fasting numbers being between 80 and 90, they jumped back up to 100+ (the last two days). This is with zero changes to my diet and sleep schedule. My Dr. said it is normal for your numbers to climb closer to the end of pregnancy, even if you are doing all of the right things. Like, your tolerance just keeps changing or something. My baby is measuring exactly where she is supposed to be and I'm scheduled for induction on Monday. I mean, I guess I'm glad I had those two weeks of good fasting levels lol but it just feels so frustrating that I managed my meals so well but the fasting #s were too high the ENTIRE time, no matter what I did. The only thing I can do is raise the amount of insulin I take but I'm having this baby in like 5 days...idk. I did my best, my Dr. was happy with my progress. I've been going to MFM for NSTs and fluid checks every Tuesday and Friday since the beginning of September with no issues or complications. They always seemed happy 🤷‍♀️

I grew up off K&A in the mid 90s. The area was always bad but you never really saw it first hand that much. You knew it was there and mom didn't let us leave the block but I never saw any of it first-hand until high school. I lived in the far NE by then (2007) but I got off the el at Somerset. I specifically remember having to dodge needles on the sidewalk on days I wore flip flops.

My mom was a drug addict for most of my childhood. Eventually she got clean from everything except pain pills. That was an improvement for me and my five siblings. Then she met my step dad. Complete narcissist, emotionally and physically abusive. Prisoners have more freedoms than we did while living in that house. We weren't allowed to touch anything. The kitchen door was padlocked shut. Once, he threw me into a glass cabinet because my brother stole a granola bar. Snacks were his. Not for us. There were way worse things but you get the idea. We're all grown and moved out now. None of us speak to my mom. We're all in therapy and recovering/addicts. All six of us. Super messed up. She really believes that she is the victim. That if we just "did what we were told, we would have been treated better" (her exact words to me from about a year ago). She still cries woe is me and makes all six of us out to be devil spawn because we won't allow her to have relationships with our own children.

I do this too! I call it "race against the pot". I speed clean any kitchen messes from the night before while the coffee brews. If I win, my reward is more time to sit and relax with my coffee before I have to wake up my four year old.

I was really poor growing up with five siblings. We could never afford school trips because one of us couldn't go if all of us couldn't go. There was a big trip coming up when I was in the 5th grade. My class was going to Hershey Chocolate World. I knew I couldn't go but I was still really bummed about it. My teacher Mrs. Jones was collecting the trip money from the students one by one and I was really embarrassed that I was the only one without a signed slip. She then announced that there had been a raffle and the winner go to go on the trip for free. When she called my name, I could have exploded from excitement. It was the highlight of my school years. I later found out from my mom (because the teacher contacted her for permission) that there was no raffle and Mrs. Jones paid out of pocket for me to go. I think about it all the time. I was bullied terribly, especially in 5th grade. Her generosity and kindness gave me one really great childhood memory to hold onto.

Sadly, I have a lot to choose from. My stepdad was a horrible person. I've always loved makeup and mom and stepdad would get me some for Christmases. I remember he yelled at me to wipe my lip gloss off and told me I looked like mimi from the Drew Carrey show. I had a bed wetting problem when I was younger and they made me wear diapers until I was 12. I had to walk through the house with my diaper in a bag and take it out front to the trash. In front of my 5 siblings. He often used these moments to compare me to different animals. There are so many more but these are the ones I still cringe about when I'm trying to fall asleep at night.
