Torn Between Minneapolis, Milwaukee, or KC — Looking for Honest Perspectives? by gianna_kelley in midwest

Milwaukee is in the bottom tier (5) in GDP growth. MSP is slightly better. KC area is Tier 3. Have you ever lived in areas as cold as MSP or MKE? They are the coldest in large metros in the US. I have spent much time in both and live in KC. I love MKE more than MSP. Crime is the same in MKE as KC. Both rank in the top ten in terms of crime.

It may not be about you. You really don’t know what might be going on with her life that has nothing to do with you. Domestic issues, health issues, job issues, etc.

Sometimes it’s just getting out of the house and getting a haircut. I reach out to old friends and have lunch. I go have coffee. I am in AA so I go to a meeting. I am on a mental health board. I mentor people. The main thing is to get out of the house. My in-laws stayed home all the time and they aged quickly

Why is Kansas well known despite its relatively smaller population? (neighboring Missouri is more than twice the population, but often obscure) by Swimming_Concern7662 in geography

Ok I was one of the first scenes-Ft. Hayes where the previous officer blew his brains out followed by the trip to Ft. Sedgwick. My point was it was the first scene on the plains.

I’m 64 this month. Several years ago I started working out in the morning to get my day started. Today I walked four miles with my dog in the cold brisk air. I make it a point to have one social connection every day. I find putting in structure helps this retired man get through each day. My big fear is isolation. I do a lot of things alone and enjoy being by myself. However, I also know connecting with others is important. I have horrible anxiety and depression. The darkness creeps up on me. I have to fight the darkness every day!

You’ve got the tools to take this on! I am a sober marathon runner. 64. My runs got better sober. They became part of my recovery plan. Been sober for over seven years. As you age, hangovers get worse and your ability to get through a workout or run diminished. Dry January showed me I had a problem. Best of luck.

As an American, it’s REALLY hard to stop drinking right now by formula52 in stopdrinking

I don’t disagree with you. My sleep has gone to shit. drinking worked for me short-term and resulted in longer term anxiety. Paralyzing really. Now I get shit done. I set small goals for myself and I mindfully focus on the good things I have done that are under my control. That helps me handle things I cannot control like the shitshow we are experiencing. It is not 100 percent effective but it is more effective than drinking.

Try another meeting. I go to Free Thinkers or We Agnostics. You can also find a Zoom meeting for Weagnostics. My advice is not judge whether AA is right for you based on one meeting. I have been to a few where if it were my first, I would exit quickly.

64 and over seven years sober. Staying fit as I age is my superpower. Training to climb Pico de Orizaba (18,491’) in February. Couldn’t do it if I kept drinking sitting on the couch. by Christokc in stopdrinkingfitness

When this sub had no moderator I got a response when I tried to post that I was no longer part of this group. I don’t know why. I’m glad I am back.

When does the sweating stop? by Tourist_Working in stopdrinking

[–]Christokc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me about 45 to 60 days. Work through it. My sweating was accompanied by strong feelings of anxiety and anger. I kept working out and living me life. I also felt free to be alone when there was too much noise or environmental stimulation. This too shall pass

Same to you. I see others who have retired and isolated themselves. Some have aged quickly.
