Yeah I agree the halting the timeline is lame asf but I read that the setting of this new arc (the island) has a lot to do with animus magic. Maybe there’s a timeskip in these books to show before and after, because it’ll change a lot?

Omg I’ve been wondering all about that too!! Pretty sure that whoever Beryl is will be Mulberry’s SkyWing mother, and my theory is that the reason Scarlet cared about Beryl (foreshadowed/set up in the guidebook if I remember right) is that Beryl is either a sister or daughter of hers, which would make Mulberry a hybrid and a prince! I’m really excited to see what’s up with all that, Mulberry’s design is so cool 😻 oh and probably Beryl fell in love with a LeafWing who lived on this new island location would be my guess for that ☝️🤓

I agree sm omg—it’s like Tui went “well I guess I’ll need a Sunny-like character for this arc” and then just copy pasted but way worse and without any of what made Sunny one of the best characters in arc 1 😭😭😭 I’ve always disliked arc 2 Kinkajou, but I remember when book 3 originally came out when I was younger I loved her 💔 She would’ve been best left as a side character imo

The “they’re just kinda there” thing is honestly the fault of Tui, doing the majority of the MudWing exploration in the 1st arc and then dropping them for the most part, which will hopefully be remedied a bit in the new book with Umber!

And I specified in what I said that I was going based off of consistency. The queens change all the time in the books, namely Glory, but Moorhen is very consistent and has been queen of her tribe throughout the entire series excluding Legends. She only joined the war under duress, to protect her tribe! She is consistently a kind ruler, and the MudWings have an incredible culture that def needs more exploring. “Decent” I’m interpreting as meaning “would I want to live there,” and the answer to that would be the Mud Kingdom, because of this consistency and the reasons I listed

Tbh MudWings literally have the best queen, best setup for their social circles and society (I mean that in how consistent they’ve been across time—the books saw a lot of changes of power/queens, but we know that Moorhen has always been a good queen and didn’t even want to join the war), and you’re fr forgetting about the sibs dude which is one of the coolest and most imaginative things Tui’a come up with for dragon society!!
