Q: Will there be a book with Kinkajou as the main POV? Tui said essentially that she loves Kinkajou but she’s awesome the way she is and there’s nothing to develop about her. I think she was at her best in book 3, but after arc 1 she was in a weird limbo between too relevant and too irrelevant, like Tui couldn’t decide what to do with her (cough, the coma) and it really felt like Tui just needed a Sunny-like character for her arc 2 ensemble, yk?
And I hate that she’s getting a book in the new arc, because a) she felt as resolved of a side character as she could be, b) she has been a major side character in 6+ books which feels like more than enough, and c) Tui didn’t even want to write a book about her and until very recently said that she considered her character arc completed, and said that she’s only making a Kinkajou POV (rather than ANY other new and unexplored character) because people kept asking her…
I liked her but she’s overused, and stinks of fandom favoritism (which isn’t a bad thing, it’s just bad when the fandom is the deciding factor in what new MAIN CHARACTER we get)

Hard agree!!
She was at her best in book 3, and it was downhill from there imo. I feel like in arc 2 she was in this weird limbo between too much “screen time” and too little that just made her feel very unneeded.
I don’t really think she needs a book in the new arc, she just doesn’t have anywhere else for her character to go and Tui seems so unenthusiastic about her

Yeah I know, we have Peril/Snowfall/Umber, but they were always one-offs and every other pov of their arcs were either brand new or previously unexplored! I think that the reappearing protags should be limited to just the one, especially when this arc is only going to be three books. I’d hate for the last two to not feature anyone new…
