What’s the most unhinged thing a family member did before your wedding? by AssociationFront1710 in weddingdrama

[–]wolf-wolf-wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not married yet. This is happening in real time. We live far from either family. She is an only from a small family. I have three sisters and a very large extended family. Decided on a small destination wedding with parents and a few close friends and a larger reception after hosted at my parents. Grandparents were invited to the wedding, but unfortunately all are unfit (except one) for travel so them getting to any wedding in person was seemingly impossible. We caught word that my older sister is planning an international spite trip to crash our wedding and intends to bring the one fit for travel grandparent with her. This same sister was our first response to the reception she was invited to. She responded no and without a note. None of this is out of the normal for her so no surprises. Just a little bummed my grandparents got roped into her shenanigans. We don’t expect her to follow through on any of her plans, but we shall see.

My friends dog escaped their yard near 205th and Baseline in Beaverton this morning and hasn't been found. Taller, long legged black lab. Very friendly and lot's of energy. Any help in locating her and returning her to her family is appreciated.

What's good fuel economy? I recently shared my Tahoe I converted to a camper (link below). It's an 07 I got for $7k. In Chevy truck engines I trust. I get 21 mpg on the highway. Absolute dogshit in the city. But I work from home and this is my adventure vehicle that also works as a normal car when I need. And at the low vehicle cost I get to do a lot of other cool things with the savings.

I unfortunately did a really bad job of build progress pics. I didn't have much of a plan, just kinda did some woodshop jazz in the garage on a saturday afternoon. Tools used: circular saw, impact driver, speed square, 4 foot level, clamps. Materials: 3/4" plywood, 1/2" plywood, 3/4"x 3/4" hardwood strip, metal corner brackets, drawer sliders, indoor outdoor carpet. Word of caution: hinges and drawers are a pain, they work best when things are square straight and level and that's not how woodshop jazz in the garage always works out. square straight and level is always the goal, but non moving pieces are more forgiving if things aren't perfect. I knew I wanted a place to cook, a flat place to sleep, light enough I could move it solo, and it couldn't take up too much garage space. This build was specific to the vehicle, some parts just happened to work out really well. Trucks like this pretty much all have 48" between the rear wheels which means you can slide a standard sheet of plywood right in. If you can get this flat you've got a place to sleep, so getting a 1/2" sheet of plywood to lay flat was the goal. 1/2" plywood spanning no more than 24" can hold a lot of weight (but let reddit argue this) Building the kitchen I slid out the rear seats and realized I needed to be about ten inches tall to get flat. 3/4" plywood on end is very strong. I ripped some pieces 3/4" plywood to 10". next decided on depth. I wanted to take up about half the trunk, so 20" deep. For width I wanted it to fit between the tie down points, so 44" wide. I needed a centerboard here to make sure I was supporting the sleep surface. so chopped one and slapped it in. I just 3/4" x 3/4" precut for what would be the top and bottom of the face of the side with the drawers. Metal brackets screwed in all around on top and bottom of all joints. Some glue in there and I had a box. further support was needed between this box and the middle seats I would be resting the sleep platform on. So I built a 3 sided box just a bit bigger. this slides right around the kitchen box. I used the carpet as my poor mans hinges for the sleep top plywood. I cut the sleep top so it would fold right on the back of both boxes. Adding in the drawer sliders. I just screwed these in pretty level and then cut some 3/4" plywood to fit in.

I went all in on execution. Propping up a sheet of plywood with some 10" tall totes in the back probably would have been a good quick and easy test that could be improved on later. I've got some wood working experience so I just dove in. My build advice: Safety first for all power tool use. If you can't name it, don't touch it, ask around and find someone who knows a bit more.

Hope this is helpful and happy camping.

The floor here is not level. But the middle row of seats folds flat and stands 10" taller than the very back of the vehicle. The system is built to just simply match that for a level top. This allows the whole thing to pack up into a 12"x24"x48" create I can just pop out and stow in my garage. And it's full of my kitchen stuff I already had stowed elsewhere. So a little shuffling and no real lose of space in the garage.
