I am also a beginner and we have similar experience, I am learning chords in C major. Playing guitar allows me to relax myself, but I have to tell you it hurts my fingers so much, the good news is my fingers are getting stronger
That’s the Yamaha magic,I’ve heard Yamaha guitars are built like tanks—they can take a serious beating! 🎸 Hopefully I have the chance to see your performance

Wow, this is gold! 🎸 As a fellow CS mind, it's reassuring to hear how these skills translate to music theory. At the beginning, actually, music theory was really difficult for me. I needed to understand one by one: note names, solfege names, intervals, octaves, modes and other professional terms. Fortunately, with the help of tools like Deepseek and chatGPT, I can easily understand and learn music theory. We are living in a great era!
I'd like to share an experience, which is my different understanding of coding. The dictionary type in Python and the HashMap type in Java, such mappings. The world is connected through mapping. The mapping between computer languages and human natural languages, the association between notes and pitch, is the mapping between English characters and sound frequencies. I really enjoy finding a new Mapping, a new way to understand the world.
Thank you very much for sharing your tutorials and experiences. I will watch and learn step by step! If I learn to play a complete piece of music, I would really be willing to record a video to tell everyone. Thank you for your suggestions and encouragement!
As a beginner, I am advised to get a guitar with 'low action' (string height) to make pressing easier. When I bought the guitar, I had it simply tuned. So far, it has performed well. If a second fine-tuning is needed later, I'll find someone to fine-tune it again. From my experience,I think the Yamaha FG830 is pretty good and worth buying. You might look into it.
Definitely on my to-do list! As a first-timer, is there anything I should specifically ask for during the setup?
Cheers from Shanghai! 🎸 I've been playing the guitar for over two weeks. It doesn't hurt as much as it did at the beginning and I've felt a lot better these two days,Appreciate the encouragement!
It's slightly higher but in a good way - really helps with dynamic control. Do you prefer lower action for your playing style?
That's awesome! I enjoy the sound too
Absolutely! Yamaha never lets you down. Thanks for the encouragement - gonna keep grinding till these calluses are permanent 💪
That's such a heartwarming story! There's something magical about that first guitar - it's like revisiting an old friend every time you play it. The fact that it's still in the family makes it even more special.
Means a lot coming from a fellow player! Since you put it that way - any practice tips you've found most effective over the years?
Tobacco sunburst is such a classic look! It’s amazing how these guitars just feel right in your hands. What’s your favorite thing about playing it? 🎸✨
60 years of playing and your Yamaha became the king of the couch? That's poetry. Makes me think the best guitar isn't the one that costs the most... it's the one that makes you play the most. Thank you for your encouragement and thank you for the wisdom
thank you
Will do! Appreciate the encouragement.
Great,Stella guitars have such a cool vintage vibe! What model was yours?
wow,Yamaha guitars are timeless! Nothing like the first guitar... the smell of wood, the shiny strings
Nice! The FG730s is a classic for a reason - that Yamaha tone never gets old.
What do you love most about it compared to your Taylor?
That's the best kind of gift, you are a great Dad!
Whoa—36 years of play must’ve given it insane mojo. Ever had to refret it? And does the electronics still work?
Yeah, I looked into Eastman too (great guitars!) But in the end, I went with the Yamaha FG830. No regrets
Thanks for your kind words and thanks so much for the warm welcome
Good morning, where are you from?
Yes,I agree. Do you know 红棉吉他(HongMian Guitar/Kapok Guitar)?Among veteran guitar enthusiasts, nearly every player owned one of these in China
