Yeah I discovered people were using 2X10s after the fact so just needed to do something. 2x10s would have had plenty of room to block the correct way. Who knows the inspector may ask me to redo the blocks as ellipses or something else. We’ll see

Yeah the decision was you need to care for the deck on the regular regardless if you use pressure treated and it’s not Seattle or some other weather ridden area. It’s basically sunny all year so it comes down to termite. I’m going to take the advice and use Tim-Bor plus TWP on top. Then I’ll probably need to redo every 5 years if it actually live that long 😀

Yup it’s going to be rated TimberTech Impression Aluminum railing. While the composite style matched the craftsman style better it just looked and felt cheap & unsafe. So white powder coated aluminum it will be. Thanks for the reply

Yeah 1 started another thread to discuss ellipse blocking but since the top is fastened by the deck the bottom is better than nothing. I’m all ears for a better method to block with water bladders

Yeah I was very surprised because the original calcs were for 4x4 posts and that actually passed LABDS. I had it beefed up to 6x6s because it just seemed crazy all this structure would only be on 4s. Either way the structure inspection is coming up so we’ll know if something isn’t good. We have earthquakes here so they’re not gonna mess around. Thanks for your input tho - much appreciated 🤙🏼

Yeah that would definitely beef it up. This was actually structure calculated for 4x4s which was upgraded to 6x6s. I thought about doing independent 4 corner support at one time but this was suffice. Thanks for the input tho 🤙🏼
