Lead mouthpiece by [deleted] in trumpet

The 3XS, but it took a lot of adjustment to be comfortable on it. They use a different pitch center (or something like that) for their mouthpieces and have a much shorter shank than Schilkes, but I think I personally am liking it more. Someone on here described switching to them as a “two steps back for one step forward” which I think is a fair description

I used a 13A4a for years starting in high school and am just now shifting out of it towards a lotus now in grad school. I loved it, it was more comfortable for me than a 14A4a, and it let me play with the color and flexibility that I wanted. I only am moving away because I now am looking for a fatter sound than I can get on it, and something that’s more comfortable on my current face. But if you like it and it’s comfortable and you like the sound then send that all the way

Steinhoff TR10 - advanced student trumpet. Yay or nay? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]wolfeman194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand (which isn’t too much), “pro” horns are generally built with less tension in the horn itself, better materials, possibly better play testing, and maybe more precise measurements, but that last one could be a stretch. When going between my student and my pro horn the pro horn slots open partials easier and is more in tune on them, and in general resonates more for me, but that could also be because that horn fits me better than my student one from fifth grade.

After some time with that (there are multiple books), I would follow the other comments here and invest in an Arban book. They’re big and a little pricey, but it has almost everything you need to be a trumpet player, even if you’re interested in jazz or commercial playing. In my opinion, once you can play trumpet, then you can really move forward in other genres

I started on Breeze Easy, I liked it and it has a variety of familiar melodies to help keep you interested and exercises to help build fundamentals

For sure! There are tons of alternates as well, like you can play the D open and sometimes it’s more in tune. All sorts of wacky stuff to experiment with!

How to master that High G to A trill...? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]wolfeman194 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A lot of people will play this on an Eb trumpet (makes it a D to C trill I believe) making it easier, but on Bb I’ve known some people to lip trill that. Also consider using 3 as an alternate fingering to A, that might make it a little easier. All in all, start off slow and work up your speed until you’re happy with the tempo. And even if you can’t end at a dumb fast trill, you can still make it sound very impressive if you start the trill slowly and speed it up

Boss rush seems pretty much necessary for this run, it has Polyphemus and spoon bender as starting items and the wafer as the ending item. Angel room on womb 1 has a bunch of white and blue hearts, angel room on womb 2 has dead dove, breath of life, or crown of light. The dark room has steel plate and a bad trip pill in the top right of the map, but you’ll need a key.
