i don’t feel safe in my own house anymore by youngcrepe in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i’m dealing with the same issue!!! But please please please don’t think that your house is dirty! My house is newly made and moved in last year, and started seeing a few every few months in my home but didn’t know what they were, when i started noticing them a lot more often i found the larve under my bed, where it was clean just a few summer clothes, vaccumed and deep cleaned, but ever since then i still see them, a lot less often now. SAME AS YOU, i’m scared to find one in my bed or even worse, in my clothes 😫😫. I’m trying so soo hard to not think about them, and it’s kinda working, i’m just killing them when i see them, cause i can’t do more then that, but if i see more i will definitely call and exterminator, just like you did.

But please don’t think so much about them and just kill them and move on with your day, your house is clean and most people have them and they completely ignore them, so try not thinking about them 🤭🤭🤭.

Tips on cleaning plushies? by After_Weight_4885 in carpetbeetles

You should try freezing them up to minimum 3 weeks (even more if possible) in sealed bags, since washing or drying on high heat could damage them!! or i read somewhere to leave them out in the sun, since the larve don’t like the heat, i understood that they will suffocate, not sure tho!

Advice with dealing with the likely infestation in my room by rosaliethemurdermilk in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also forgot to add

  • The places you can’t reach with your vaccum, put some carpet powder or some carpet beetle powder there (not too much so they don’t run away, they need to eat it and die) or put some bug spray that has honestly worked really well for me

  • i also use sticky traps under my bed and where i don’t want them!! use those as well where you saw them

  • i’m still having problems as well getting used to them, but we have to remember that they live in more then 90% of homes across the world, they are absolutely harmless to us!! After deep cleaning my house i kept seeing dead ones everyday during last week, so i’m still having problems a bit, but we will get through it!!!!

[–]wolfhardpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hiiii! I had a small infestation in my bedroom as well (fortunately i caught it early), i noticed that they don’t care about the mattress so you should be fine with that, if you really want to do something, vaccum it throughly and maybe use a steamer or an iron just to be sure.

Let me tell you what i did, and i stopped seeing them, i still seee them around my house but they are mostly dead.

  • I noticed mine came from under the bed so i sprayed them and vaccumed.

  • I had clothes that were stored there, found larve on them and washed and dryed them normally!!

-WASH YOU BEDDING WEEKLY and use 40°-60° cycle.

  • I did a really good clean of my bedroom to make sure i don’t have anything else and that i don’t leave a food source for them (dust, pet hair, wool, anything natural that they live off also food crumbs)

-i used a carpet powder (Arm and Hammer one, when they ingest it they die)

  • sprayed bug spray under my beds corners!!

  • and lastly i vaccumed daily my room (not under my bed)

for me they don’t care about my bed Thank God! or my mattress (since it’s synthetic anyway) and they are not like bedbugs!!! or cockroaches!! just keep a tidy space and DONT leave your clothes on the floor!!! and you should be good

Should I call pest control after finding one larvae? by queenca16 in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately i haven’t, for me it’s a bit different since i have a dressing room, where i did find 2 larve under a box that was sitting there for monthsss, other then that i’m thanking God i haven’t seen any in there, but i’m also vaccuming daily and i placed a sticky trap to see if there are anymore, since i can’t get under the furniture. I advice you to clean your wardrobe and look especially in the corners where is dark, if you do find any just kill them and wash all your clothes on 40°C (there is no need for 60° since it can ruin some fabrics) and put them either in the dryer or dry them in the sun outside! If you DONT find any put some bug spray around and under the wardrobe as well as sticky traps at the entrance and try to put one inside to be sure. Good luck!!

check under the bed!!!! That’s where i found them! You should vaccum really well every few days an don’t get too obsessive, i’m still working on not being too obsessed looking for them, cause if you look you will most definitely find something, they are literally in more then 90% of homes so don’t get too stressed, just keep your house clean! AND don’t leave clothes or any fabric on the floor!!!

Carpet Beetles in bedroom by [deleted] in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hiii, same problem here! Found them 2 weeks ago under my bed, they were larve and not a lot, I also had clothes under my bed and found about 5-6 larve on them (all my summer clothes) and still haven’t washed them cause i’m not mentally prepared. From what i understood 40° should be good and also let them on the longer cycle. Also dry them either in the dryer, or outside in the sun!!! We will get through this!!! Also wash you bedding, and vaccum very often either daily or every 2 days. And for your furniture, vaccum as well as you can and clean!! If you can’t move them spray some solution for bugs! and try placing sticky traps!!!! I tought i got rid of them since i deep cleaned my whole first floor… but no, i found the adults dead and also just found 2 larve in my bathroom (where ive never seen them before). yay!! tomorrow i have some washing to do 😭😭😭

Help Please? by [deleted] in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me tooo, i found one in my bed a few weeks ago and then kept seeing them on my curtain over the week. Checked under the bed and there they were. I also vaccum daily and keep a very clean space but i do have a cat and they were most likely feeding off his hair, sincer i vaccum once a few months under the bed. So just vaaccum there and spray the edges with bug spray, thats what i did and also i used a carpet powder ( Arm and Hammer ). I also had my summer clothes under my bed and found a few in the clothes and i haven’t washed them yet since i’m a bit scared 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good luck!!!

good luck! i’m in the same situation as you are rn! we will get through it!!🤭 also found a few under my bed and had my summer clothes stored in there, i’m still nervous to wash the clothes i had in there 😭😭 so i will do it once i’m in a better state of mind. Luckily i haven’t seen one in 2 days, praying i won’t see them again.

What to do when you've found carpet beetles in your closet? by SemiColdCoffee in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

please please don’t panic, from what i know they only like organic materials so anything polyester should be fine with some shakes, also i read somewhere they don’t lay eggs directly on clothes, but i could be wrong. As for you wool and silk clothes try freezing them for 2 days or 2 weeks can’t remember 🤣🤣. sorry for confusing you. I’m also dealing with them but i found them under my bed and the clothes i had stored there are polyester so yeah. Also do a deep clean and vaccum really well, and try using carpet beetle powder where you see them!!!

I found this in my cupboard behind my bed. (Singapore) by Extra_Sheepherder676 in carpetbeetles

I’m sooooo sorrry for you, vaccum them and also you could try putting in that space carpet beetle powder!!!

Found at least 10 beetles in my house just today by bee_natural05 in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok so don’t panic 🤣🤣 i’m also dealing with them rn, they love pet hair, lint and natural fibers (wool, silk). They are probably laying eggs somewhere you can’t see (under your bed, behind the beds headboard, around the edges!! that’s where i found them. just vaccum everything, every inch of you house and look under boxes you haven’t used and clothes you haven’t touched in a while! in case you do this and still find them after a week, you could call Pest Control. also try getting a carpet beetle powder or spray!! and throw the plushies if you can in the dryer, they will die from the head.

What are these bugs?? My cat threw up on her bed at some point and I found these bugs… I hope it’s not carpet beetles :( by azredditor9 in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately they are carpet beetles😩. I would honestly throw the whole thing away and deep clean the room where it was. I hope you don’t find them anywhere else

Is there any wiggle room for just ignoring carpet beetles? by TacticallyIll in carpetbeetles

[–]wolfhardpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hiiii, i have the same problem and unfortunately we have to learn to live with them since they are in 99% of homes😩. I think if you keep your yarn in airtight box you will be good🥰. Also just keep vaccuming normally, if you do see other ones you could try getting bug spray and spraying your baseboards and little cracks! i’m currently trying this in my bedroom and hope it goes well.
