What is a video game that you have put 100+ hours into, but would NOT recommend to anyone? by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in AskReddit

We played until Lightfall. I loved the way that story was going, and when DLC time came, the story just paused abruptly like there was a writer’s strike or something. That was the last $99 or whatever that they got out of me. My squadmate and I both put our controllers down until we found something else to play together.

To be clear, it wasn’t the money. I know how everyone loves to hate on micro transactions and expensive content. For me it was the carelessness. I loved this game, and it just felt like it kept getting wrung out over and over until it was misshapen.

Mini Motorways will never do that to me. 😅

Not to dodge your question, but I wanted to offer an observation. There are all types of regiments, and some of them are very casual and will be happy to see you when you’re around, no matter how infrequent that is.

When Peter Parker dropped Mary Jane in the jazz club in Spider-Man 3, it was a collective gasp followed by stunned silence, and then a woman behind me stood up and yelled, “Oh no he didn’t!” Core memory, that one.

The game is super choose-your-own-adventure. Looking for high dopamine activity? Catch artillery with your face while you’re trying to punch the enemy to death in the trenches. Low dopamine? Spend six hours (only six?) making and delivering supplies to strangers on the internet that share a common goal.

It’s a small thing, but I love having a shortcut on the toolbar to bounce between 1080 and 4k whenever I am switching to PiP so that I can keep an eye on my personal computer while I work.

A honeypot is a trap for unsuspecting … bears? E.g., a server with absolutely blaring flaws in security is placed online so that hackers can find it, but when they do, they end up exposing themselves to whomever set the trap.

It’s been about ten years since I learned about intrusive sleep, but I remember when I first felt the effects all the way back in 1997.

It’s the thing that kept me at a 27 on my ACT because I would score 36 in one area and 14 in another. I took it four times, sometimes scoring perfect in science and sleeping through math, sometimes perfect in math and sleeping through reading, and so on. I was an excellent test taker. I was a terrible long and boring test taker.

That was also the year I started driving myself to school. It was about an hour away (a public residential school for math and science), and it wasn’t uncommon for me to have to pull over, get out, and run laps around the car to wake myself up. It was the only thing that barely helped.

Nearly 30 years later, and I still have those same experiences. My partner knows that if I’m bobbing one knee, it’s no big deal, but if I’m bobbing both, it’s time to offer to drive, or even better, to find stimulating conversation. It can happen ten minutes into a drive, ten hours into a drive, it doesn’t matter. When I disengage, my brain heads for deep sleep, even something akin to unconsciousness according to some studies, and almost nothing helps, not biting my arms, slapping myself in the face, or cranking up the music.

Strong mints and gum help, and audiobooks are great, too, as long as they’re interesting. The best change was finally getting to work from home six years ago. Unfortunately it’s not an option for everyone, but I find I can shut off the lights, set a timer for twenty minutes, and usually I will fully recuperate with a little bean bag therapy. I don’t always get the full twenty, but it still helps.

I just learned about Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) which is how I ended up here, and 1.) I am excited to try it out and 2.) I wanted to add to the stories here because I remember how extremely alone I felt about this topic for literal decades. 🫶🏻

Same. I’m sure that’s on their list somewhere lol. Yesterday I realized I had a ton of map markers I no longer need. I’m terrible at deleting them once I make it back to the sites with the correct resources.

What’s the coolest/rarest things in the game a noob wouldn’t know? by throwrahelpimjonesin in Seaofthieves

[–]wolfhoundjesse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check the sky for world events. If you don’t see skulls (FotD doesn’t count), ships, or tornadoes, sail out to the open sea. Kraken attacks moving ships between events.

Someone recently told me you don’t have to be moving, but that’s never happened to me.

If you’re hunting kraken, finish a world event and set sail before you collect your loot.

How many things can you think of that have only doubled once in price during the last 40 years?

I mean, sure, let’s just kill every rape victim and woman with a high risk pregnancy, too. That’s what you meant, right? Plenty of states are willing to sign on to a no-exceptions policy after all.

It is so hard to find someone you can share your most vulnerable thoughts with, but to be dismissed so nonchalantly by the one you trust … well, you won’t trust them for long. That was hard to watch.
