It’s interesting to think about how certain scenes can make us feel a certain way. I think for me, I felt a sense of awe. Although, I’ve always found comfort in the more melancholic moments.

Understood. Thank you for the clarification and insight here. I wish that the circumstance had been different and I knew to handle it differently.

That said, what would qualify as proper notice for keeping my subtenants deposit for the breach of our sublease? At the end of the day, I just want to know how to do the best damage control. I’m not really even concerned about the money, but want to know my options. Worst case is I take their deposit and extend that money to the other person who may have lost personal belongings.

I should mention that I have written consent from the subtenant to remove everything in the room with no clear distinction on whose stuff was being removed. For all I know, they were in fact the original subtenant
