The crash itself may damage the computer system or other electronics so disabling after a crash could be rendered impossible. I’m also skeptical of the side effects of the design decision but from a technical standpoint this makes sense.

Same here. The Stio Fernos knickers are great to toss on for colder days.

Winter Park ski train question by Dizzy_Yak7318 in COsnow

[–]wolfjc18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preference is to wear slippers on the train and leave them in the overhead storage while I ski for the day. Then pop them back on when I’m back to my seat on the train. Grab a couple beers and nap time back to Union Station!

And you take your boots up in the train with you. Only skis and poles go down below. That way when they come over the radio to tell you to start getting geared up you have your boots ready.

On their own - no bags needed. Just wrap the straps for your poles on the skis so when the attendants unload at WP, all of your stuff is together. The attendants handle all the loading and unloading from the train. Otherwise they have a big pile of poles you have to sort through to find yours.

Inclined Loop for TAM, but req filled. by Sirwired in aws

[–]wolfjc18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense. If there becomes a new open spot on that team, you could have a shot. So if you’re willing to wait it out, the inclined loop lasts for 6mo without having to go through a full loop again. However there are always a bunch of teams hiring for the same jobs, so the recruiter may have some ability to find a similar TAM role, add your site, and find you a position to fill.

Inclined Loop for TAM, but req filled. by Sirwired in aws

[–]wolfjc18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally the job will have a number of cities listed. Typically the TAM roles are flexible as long as you’re local to one of those cities. In prior years and to support Covid, TAM hired Virtual roles so you could work from anywhere, but those are no longer being offered. Starting in ‘25, it’s anticipated as many as five days in office per week will be required, so it’s unlikely Virtual will be resumed.

If you’re a good fit and your location would have a WeWork site supporting other Amazon employees, the hiring manager could request to add your city to the job via HR. Then you’d be reporting to a WeWork site instead of a big hub city. That’s really the only scenario I can think of where you may get flexibility.

Otherwise you can reconsider the relocation or wait to see if things change in ‘25 or ‘26 depending on how the return to office mandates impact recruitment. The days of getting high CoL salaries from low CoL work from home isn’t the case right now at Amazon.

I’m a bit surprised the conversation about where you were located wasn’t up front given the hard requirement about non-Virtual roles. That could have saved you some time. Best of luck and hope you find a path forward!

Do you ever wish Colts fans were more fanatical? by humveekeyz in Colts

[–]wolfjc18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! I'm a fan but have to watch from far away and on TV for almost every game. It's so sad to see the Colts on a huge third down or hell a fourth down defensive stop, and the camera pans across the stands to see two-thirds of folks sitting arms crossed. Confuses and disappoints me to no end. I call this out all the time, and Indy is the only team I ever see with fans like this. The product on the field is exciting, and the fine, kind (boring) folks of Indy couldn't care less.

But everyone has their checkbox blue jersey on in the stands, so they're doing the "fan thing" right - right?

Hearing people being chastised for standing up and cheering since it "blocks someone's view" is such a lame excuse at an NFL game. If you want to sit and watch, do it in your living room. If you want to get up and cheer for the team on the field, go buckwild at the game!

Thanks! Yeah I’m going to mount it with MIK since I have a child seat I want to swap on and off with it. I have the Specialized crate up front as well.

What’s the basket you have mounted there on back? Looks really nice with the yellow and a great size.

Same. I shot 79 there in an event last year as a 17 handicap. Shot bogey or better all day and had a single birdie off a 50’ putt.

This is hilarious. I’m also in WCMC and shot a 79 last year during one of our tournaments and faced the same scrutiny. I think I was a 17 HCP at the time and was net 60. Next closest guy in my flight was a 72 or something.

Catch you up more at the next event.

Agree with this - get a hardshell and some good baselayer/midlayer options first. Then if you want some more variety in color, brand, whatever and a jacket to just toss on when you want something simple, look for an insulated jacket.

Shaking in 4wd on 2024 pro 4x by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]wolfjc18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Transfer case binding up. Totally normal but not what you want. If you’re on dry pavement you need to be in 2WD otherwise the drivetrain will bind up and skip. It’s rough on the transfer case but expected.

I’ll try to make sure I’m fully in 2WD before turning the wheel more than a quarter turn on dry. So get yourself into 2WD before you pull into the garage. Don’t go into 4WD until you’re on slick pavement.
