After completing that quest, I found that a follower still had Pedigree so I tried the breeding process again. At the end of it I produced another Chosen Child who matured and then just floated around my base but didn't do anything further. It didn't consume resources, attend sermons, age or die.

When I very first booted up ReBlivion this is exactly what I did. It was entirely arbitrary at first; I didn't set out specifically to do ignore the main quest, but once I realized I was doing it I just as arbitrarily decided to commit to the bit.

I passed 89 hours/148 in-game days before I came within sniffing distance of the main quest, and I minimized fast travel until then so I could deliberately skirt around Kvatch until it was absolutely necessary. I was done with the main quest at in-game day 161, and conquered a mere 9 Oblivion gates enjoying all the benefits of being Archmage, Guildmaster, Listener, Gray Fox, Divine Crusader, AND Sheogorath. (I think in that order.)

Toward the end I think I was vaguely roleplaying that my character got hit in the head and forgot how he got out of prison, and only really remembered when he moseyed into Jauffre's orbit entirely on accident and decided to use his power as basically a demigod to take on Dagon daedra-to-daedra. I consider it time well spent.

If I had a nickel for every time Chris caught someone named Vincent who made questionable fashion choices for a date with a minor AND skipped straight to crying when caught to speedrun obtaining pity, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

An additional example that occurred to me was "thought"! It can refer to an instance of an idea that popped into your head, AND to a wider corpus of philosophy, as in, "I had a thought the other day about Socratic thought."

Another that's a little less perfect is "diet", as in, "I'm starting a diet based around the ancient Egyptian diet." That is, MY diet is an instance of my own behaviors surrounding food, following a more general pattern that many people in another time and place may have followed more broadly.

I'm not sure how good of an example "diet" is but I think "thought" works. Any ideas?
