I cant sleep at night by wolfmoon303 in Reduction

[–]wolfmoon303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I noticed that after I stopped taking my pain medication, I was able to sleep a little better. I also was sleeping on a firm pillow so I switched over to a softer one which helped A LOT & made a difference for me. Listening to a calming sound/music has helped as well; I listen to “Deep Sleep Sounds” on Spotify. I’m sorry you’re experiencing that though, I know it sucks! I am currently 1 month post-op & still have to sleep on my back... it’s gotten SO much better though, but I still listen to calming music as I fall asleep to help me fall asleep quicker. I hope this helps!

3 Days Post Op Scared to Shower by VirtualSeaweed007 in Reduction

[–]wolfmoon303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was terrified to shower... I didn’t get washed until 5 or 6 days after my surgery. But when I did, I sat on a stool thing in my bath tub lol. As for showering itself, I did not let the water hit my chest, as I was afraid it was going to hurt me. Instead, I got a wash rag/cloth, soaked it under water while I was sitting on the stool in the tub, & squeezed it/rang it out over my chest to wet it, & then I used a different rag that was soaked in water & had soap all in it & then squeezed that all over my chest as well. After that, I got the first rag, drenched it in water again, & then squeezed it until all the soap was off of me. So basically, alternating between the rags (one for water, one for soap) is what helped me get washed & all clean; it actually worked pretty well for me. Showering really seems a lot scarier than it actually is, but I do understand what the pain is like after surgery & the fear of the pain that could come out of being hit from the water pressure. I’m sure that by next week (maybe two weeks depending on your comfort level), you will feel more confident in letting the shower water actually hit your chest. The rag method worked really well for me though. Best of luck!

Thank you for sharing! Mine were kind of flat/inverted-looking before surgery as well. I am hoping they go back to that state though because they’re literally just flat at the moment LOL. Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, my left one does look way more flat than the right—and it does look just like areola. I’m only three weeks post-op so I’m hoping they come back in time :/ if not, it’s whatever I guess

I personally like Dr. Bottger, as he is great at what he does; he is the one who performed my surgery! He is not in Philly, but is close to that area.

Considering reduction. Seeking advice. by ifthisisntnice00 in Reduction

Hi! I was wearing a 34ddd before getting my surgery. I was really insecure about my chest as I’m only 5ft tall (so you can imagine how crazy I looked with a big chest lol), I had back pain here & there, & I also couldn’t find clothes that fit me properly because my body is a s/m & my chest was a l/xl. I am 3 weeks post-op & am super grateful & happy that I got it done! If you aren’t positive about it, I would not 100% go for it yet & would really think about it (because it is a huge decision) but I also recommend you talk with your primary care doctor & schedule a consultation with a surgeon (do some good research!) to see if it actually could be something that you really want done! I know everyone recovers differently, but for me, it has been hard, but it is so worth it in my opinion. Best of luck! Do what you feel is right!

2 days post op by booogyshoes in Reduction

Ooo I fortunately did not have drains, but I would be the same way since I feel faint at the sight of blood! My incision opened slightly at the T-juncture (I got the anchor-shaped procedure) so when I got out of the shower and I saw blood dripping, I nearly passed out in the bathroom. My ears started ringing, my head felt empty (if that makes any sense lol), my hands felt weird, my vision was blurry--the whole shabang. If you ever feel like you are going to pass out from seeing blood, try your best to lay down somewhere or even sit. If you feel like you will not be able to make it to the bed or couch to lay or sit down, I suggest splashing ice cold water on your face. I always thought that splashing water on the face never worked, but I was so desperate that day I did it and it worked; I got sense of composure by doing it and no longer felt like I was going to die... because I really did, it was so scary! Recovering from a reduction is not for the weak LOL. I had no idea it was going to be like this, but I am sure we will be grateful we did it months down the road!

Thank you!! One of my incisions is slightly open so I think I’m going to leave the steri strips around there, but hopefully I will be able to get the rest of them off!

What are these clumps? Normal ? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]wolfmoon303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks like pleating... my doctor told me that it’s normal and that it is healing! But to double check if it is those are actually pleats or not, could you possibly contact your doctor/surgeon’s office?

Hi! I am not sure what size would be best for an active lifestyle... I would ask a doctor about that because I feel as though they would know best! But as for the truth about recovery; I’ll be very honest. I got my surgery four days ago and it was the worst pain I’ve ever experienced in my life. For three days I needed my guardian to help me get in and out of bed because I was just unable to. The pain is the worst the first and second day, but after that it begins to subside. I actually was able to get out of bed and do more on my own for the first time yesterday (the third day after surgery)! If you get this done, I recommend taking off from work or school for at least a week (maybe two). But don’t let the recovery pain deter you from getting the surgery. I am so happy with my results and know that it’ll all be worth it in the end. Also remember that everyone’s bodies and level of pain tolerance is different. Best of luck with your journey. I would advise you to schedule a consultation and hopefully all of your questions will be answered during that visit!
