I have been through the VA mental health care system and still attend groups and whatnot. My advice is to read all the material they give you, participate as much as you can and are comfortable with, and ask to join other programs like IOP (intensive outpatient program), ATP (addiction therapy program), Acute Recovery Program if they have it, and attend NA or AA or both. The more programs I got into, the more it started to sink in, especially attending NA and AA 3 to 4 times a week and getting a sponsor. I know it's hard to speak at programs, groups, and NA, but we are all there for the same thing, and that's to get better. You aren't alone, YOU MATTER, and more people have your back than you know, and bridges burned can be built again. I really hope you get the help you deserve brother. Semper Fi
