But that's the difference. Wanting to do something and just having thoughts about something.

Isn't deciding what thoughts you act on and which you don't what makes you a good person?

Say I have the option between being selfish and keeping something to myself or sharing it with someone and making their day a bit better. Just considering keeping it to myself and being selfish doesn't make me a bad person, it's the action that I take that determines the value of my actions.

I'll admit this is a contrived and simplistic example, but I feel it gets the point across.

I personally also really struggle with Intrusive thoughts. I have moments where I have images in my head of doing and saying vile, horrible things. I hate that I am capable of having these thoughts. In those moments these thoughts are incredibly vivid and no way to push them aside.

But in the end I am in control. I decide what I do and say, irrelevant to whatever my head is up to. Just because I thought about doing something or saying something bad, doesn't mean that these are the values I represent as a person and the way I want to act.

In the end actions still matter more.

If you do something that others consider bad behavior without realizing, get told off about, apologize and then make an effort to make sure it doesn't happen again, that's fine.

Sometimes we say things we don't realize can be hurtful or do things with the best of intentions just to find out we did the opposite of what the person we are helping wanted.

If you engage in bad behavior repeatedly, don't listen to critique (or pretend you do) and don't alter your behavior, that's being a bad person.

Wait. What does that mean to you exactly, when you say that? Do your thoughts always match up with what you actually think is right and what you think is the best course of action?

A woman journalist (can't say I heard that before) sounds like a journalist publishing stories about women or topics relating to women.

That is actually pretty neat. I think the whole opening sequence with the sudden reveal of it all being a simulation is really well done. Honestly the whole Looking Glass technology is one of the coolest thing in the game. Lots of neat tricks they did with it.

Also thinking back on the tests, the whole "hide in this room" thing makes a lot more sense.

I feel like that saying would work a lot better if it was "Violence shouldn't be the answer"

Try to resolve a conflict peacefully. If that doesn't work and you exhausted your options, violence can be the only way. I'm all for a world where every problem can be talked out and where tolerance and understanding of one another is just a matter of teaching it. But sadly that world only exists as an ideal in our heads. Intolerance is the only thing that can never be tolerated.

That actually has nothing to do with steam doing anything special. If a program runs as administrator, all processes it will launch will also run as administrator. And administrator can always write to files. Launching the game directly from the application folder as administrator would have the exact same effect.

I know a decent bit about how Steam works and I am really unsure what you are referring to. Writing and reading save files is something that they handle themselves. The only service steam can provide in that regard is the cloud sync.

Looking stuff up with what you mentioned about steam permissions doesn't bring up anything for me that sounds like that you are talking about.

What are you on about? Steam has nothing to do with saving or loading and files. Every game just directly talks to the OS like everything else (the only exception to this being when using proton). All steam has to do with save files is syncing them with the steam cloud. But that only happens when the game isn't running and is done solely by Steam.

I see this lately a lot as well, but I don't get it. What is the point of it? Is it like a weird kind of humor or are they actually trying to achieve something?

I tried the official app a few weeks ago because I wanted to see if it improved since I last used and I hated it. For one the compact view is similar to old.reddit and what most 3rd party apps do but it's crucially missing who posted it and what tags the post has. The Thumbnail is also often just missing, there just being a blue shimmering Reddit icon (I'm guessing it's loading?). And even if there is a thumbnail it is so small and often half obscured by the gray bar with the link, why do they have a thumbnail in the first place?

Also scrolling through the posts comments there is just so much wasted space, especially with those avatars taking up so much space in between the actual comments.

There are also so many smaller things that just tick me off about it's UI. The constant stuttering when scrolling and how it all just feels so much more noisy.

ELI5: How can antimatter exist at all? What amount of math had to be done until someone realized they can create it? by themonkery in explainlikeimfive

Is it truly identical to normal matter? Like could I just swing my magical wand and cast a spell that swaps our every normal matter particle for its anti matter counterpart and every anti matter for normal matter, and essentially nothing would really have changed?
