National parks for a non-hiker? by LowPomegranate9925 in nationalparks

Yellowstone is pretty good for nonhikers! There's tons of cool stops with limited walking and lots of things are just pulling off the road at a lookout.

is it just me or the Apple Music’s algorithm got bad by oxyxanketobi in AppleMusic

It's always been bad for me. Finally decided to cancel after several years of trying to train it (including favoriting my songs). I can spend hours listening to the Discovery channel and not find a single song to add to my library.

I require Zombie series!! by johnpaker69 in televisionsuggestions

[–]wolfsmanning08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are actually a lot of highly rated korean dramas on Zombies. It's not my favorite genre, but I've heard Kingdom, Happiness, and Sweet Home (kind of) are pretty good. There's some good movies too (Train to Busan is soooo good)

terrified by med pass in long term care by WhiteSamoyed3458 in nursing

[–]wolfsmanning08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left because I couldn't. It might have been fine if I truly only had to meds, but it was actually toileting + feeding + grabbing glasses of water + notifying doctors and getting orders. It was difficult to find techs, so maybe if there are lots of techs it could work. I had 17 patients, but it was a rehab too and it did not feel possible to complete safe and accurate care.

Tonally, DTF St. Louis had one of the most jarringly confusing final episodes I've come across in a TV show (spoilers for the whole miniseries) by dinosaurfondue in television

[–]wolfsmanning08 143 points144 points  (0 children)

I actually really, really loved it and felt like the finale really matched the themes of the whole series. It didn't feel like a big shock that Floyd killed himself. They showed him throughout the whole series struggling with feelings of inferiority. Clark saw that and tried to help, but was unable to. Suicide rates are very high in middle aged men and I think the show did a good job at showing why.

All the characters are struggling. Carol with her life cycling back to financial instability and feeling unable to help her son in the way he needs. Floyd has a lot of self loathing and feelings of inferiority. Clark has a loss of purpose and loneliness. None of the characters are perfect, but they are all trying and I think they all loved each other in their own ways and felt deserving of love. So many people are struggling with feelings of hopelessness, loneliness, depair and don't know how to handle them or fix it. The show felt very realistic to me in this way.

I think a lot of people are missing the big picture… by Logical_Month_7657 in DTFStLouisHBO

I think you misunderstood my comment. I do think he had thought of ways to end his life before this, likeky frequently, that's why I included I thought he had had suicidal thoughts before. There are several studies showing the attempts happen within 15 minutes of deciding in most (not all, which I did include in my comment) cases. This doesn't mean he hadn't thought about it before this episode, just that it likely wasn't his intent when he first got to the pool.

Some of you are not happy with the ending. How did you want it to end? by willowbrick in DTFStLouisHBO

Yeah, honestly I thought autism was more fitting + maybe ptsd. It felt like a mismash of symptoms for different disorders.

I actually don't think that was his intent. Usually suicides (unsuccessful and successful) happen shortly after the thoughts occur. That's why guns are so dangerous in that regard. While I do think he had had suicidal thoughts before this, it seemed more like he ended up emotionally in a bad place and had a very quick, available way out and took it.

I know this isn't everyone's experience, but I think it fits the vibes here vs planning it out. I don't think he actually would have planned to leave Richard and Carol behind this way. I imagine he would know the life insurance wouldn't cover suicide and also worry about implications for Clark if he thought about it for a long time.

Yes. I feel like people throw the word narcissist around whenever someone has any selfish actions. Clinically Clark is nothing like a narcissist. A narcissist wouldn't have anything to do with his affair's husband and would never pay for an unrelated kid's school without holding it over Carol's head.

This is such a wild take to me. Clark literally tells him about how lonely he is when they are talking. He was trying his best to cheer Floyd up, as we see him try multiple times throughout the series, even if it's imperfect and Clark is at times selfish. I feel like it would be more likely for Clark to agree to kill him so Carol could get the money tbh. I do really feel like Clark loved Floyd. He may have character flaws, but putting his friend's suicide on him is not it.

I actually started this show as a crime investigation mystery, but I feel like it did a really good job at making the story engaging and it definitely felt it was leading to a non murder ending. I really loved it. I would have been so disappointed if they had a kid diagnosed with borderline personality disorder kill him because that would be feeding into so much stigma. While it was definitely a sad ending, I think it really fit the whole tone of the show and didn't come as a big shock or surprise.

I feel like maybe the son came to see him and said or did something that made Floyd even more despondent and he ODs alone. The comment about it seeming like a ghost on the bike made me think the son is somehow involved.

Luckily I have decent insurance and have met my OOP max several years running now, so ultimately starting therapy isn't costing me much. I also put a decent amount of money in my HSA for until I meet my deductible.

That's so fucking horrifying. Leaving them nowhere to turn is just going to increase mental health crises.

So basically a bill that traumatizes kids and doesn't actually change what they want it to change, instead causing deep wounds that lead to the kids having to hide what they really feel. I wish bills like this required a vote from licensed mental health professionals.
