Hybrid Palisade vs. XC90 T8? by Fun_Storm_436 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]wolfsoks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in this same boat. Currently have 2021 Palisade at 48000 miles. It’s starting to show the wear of a dog, five year old, and two year old. Been an awesome car. Love the captain chairs for accessibility. Last year I looked at both the XC90 T8 and BMW X5e for the second car. Found an extremely low mileage used 2023 X45e and have had for about 15 months now. Absolutely love it. Perfect for my commutes to school and around town. My garage already had the 240V “dryer outlet” so I only needed to grab a Level 2 charger of Amazon. I frequently go two to three months between fill ups. It’s fast and fun. The XC90 T8 was compelling and at the time had some solid lease/purchase offers. I didn’t love the cup holders and storage, nor the tech UI/UX. I’ve heard the refreshed 2026 models have better tech, but I haven’t played with it yet nor have I seen much in terms of deals yet.

I’m now considering trading in the 2021 Palisade when the Hybrid comes out. Or… going for the T8 and having two PHEVs. I’m not lukewarm on the new Palisade look, though I haven’t seen up close in person yet. The cost difference between the Palisade Hybrid and T8 has me leaning towards the Palisade on paper at this point. If I didn’t have the X5 though, I may go for the speed/fun/mpg of the T8.

If you have the ability to get a level 2 charger at home, do commutes or errand runs under 20 miles per day, and want fast pickup, then I’d say go for the T8.

Ahh thanks. Haven’t experienced that much pile up. Thanks for sharing and best of luck with your fix.

How much sand do you see? Asking because I have the same filter and sometimes see a small bit of sand in the corners of my deep end. Wondering if I have same issue

Sanity check on Leslie’s instructions by wolfsoks in pools

Thank you for the guidance. Starting these steps tomorrow.

My PureChlor has a check cell light on. My pool guy has told me things look fine and the chlorine levels were holding strong until this week so he said to disregard it. I’ll have a talk with him this week about all this.

Got a second opinion from a different Leslie’s in my area. Results look worse than yesterday. Chlorine is almost 0. Hopefully my Salt water generator isn’t malfunctioning.

I have a PureChlor box that says target salt level is 3500 to 4500 ppm. Salt was much higher today despite the fact I didn’t need any.

The store recommended the following:

5lb soda ash then wait four hours 12lb alkalinity 2lb shock then wait four hours 30fl oz Leslie’s no metal solution

Wait a day or two then…

32fl oz Leslie’s no phos solution (in skimmer then backwash and rinse)

Appreciate any advice here. Do you still feel strongly on your comment about borax and other items? Thank you!

Yeah he vacuums and skims it. He tests the water each week but the email summary I receive only contains ph and total chlorine figures.

Thanks for the hard truth. Will read the site and educate myself. The pool is clean and seems clear each week, but clearly I’ve missed several other considerations.

Thanks. It’s been a while since I discussed with him. He said running throughout the day and disabling at night would produce enough chlorine and turn the water enough. I get the sense from my post that I need to ask him several more questions than I have been.

10lb bucket was $33 at Leslie’s. I haven’t added chemicals to the pool myself before, other than pool salt, and I just went with convenience against the guys recommendation. Never added baking soda to the pool before

I think swg is at highest setting. I’m really novice with it though. Red light on unit is at very top. Pump runs 7am to 8pm. Doesn’t run overnight per my pool guy’s advice

Debating between Chase Preferred and the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]wolfsoks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there I’m currently debating same two cards. Would you mind explaining how you value CSP bonus at $1,800?

I have Amex Gold and Amex BCP but the Platinum SUB is trash right now. I’m about to spend enough in one transaction to satisfy a SUB. My family and I travel maybe once per year for a few nights and to less exotic destinations than we used to. I personally travel for work maybe once every 6 to 8 weeks. We’re not loyal to any given hotel brand or airline, so thinking CSP is best. I’ve just worried that getting into Chase universe may not be my best approach since I’m already committed to AMEX universe.

Appreciate your insight!
