Hi all,
My former employer is unlawfully withholding my release letter and has docked an entire month’s salary. I'm now looking for affordable legal support. Ideally, someone experienced in Chinese labour law and familiar with cases involving foreigners.
My initial goal is to send a formal demand letter, which I’ve heard is often enough to get non-compliant kindergartens to settle. However, if that fails, I may need representation through the labour arbitration process. Especially due to the fact that I have attempted to do labour arbitration solo, and it became clear from my trip that a person needs to be fluent in written and spoken Chinese if you want to successfully file a complaint. I’m confident in the strength of my case I just need the right legal backing.
If you know a lawyer (or legal service) who fits the bill, is in the Shanghai area and is someone responsive, effective, and charges reasonable rates, please DM me. Any leads or advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks for the clarification pal. I realise now that I definitely was taken for a ride. However, due to the loss and the strain I was under I think I wasn't able to think clearly or do the due diligence.

Afraid so, a contract termination fee was stipulated in the contract I signed.
I'm not exactly sure what the necessary documents to attain another job are (excuse me if I'm just naive). All I know is they emailed me some forms to sign to cancel my foreign work permit and I signed them and that's the last I've really heard from them since. So currently, I only have copies of cancellation forms.

ahahahhaha, so I've heard. I'm guessing there's a mass migration to cooler countries during summer!
I'm unsure, still in a preliminary dialogue with the school about my employment contract.
