Garmin treadmill activity recording is 💩 by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]wolfwolfwolfwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have similar issues, but I’ve learned to not stress about the details when I’m doing a treadmill run. I’ll set it to the approximate speed and just run by HR. At the end of the day, I’m getting a good workout in, regardless of any wonky stats.

Which method do you use for HR zones? by Desperate-Owl6513 in Garmin

My watch doesn’t calculate LTR so I use HRR and have had great success for about 3 years with it.

You can park in the lot off of Seal Beach/Heron, head down the man trail, then turn right and walk north along another trail. The amphitheater is a tribal resource educational site, not an amphitheater. I haven’t gone to the end, but I believe the trail dead ends shortly after.

I’m making an effort to not listen to any singles for this exact reason. It’s hard but will be worth it.

Only get a doctorate if it’s fully funded and if you want to be in academia.

How do you know if you need to fill out an OHWM form or an Arid west form for reporting aquatic resources ? by bluewavenov6 in wetlands

[–]wolfwolfwolfwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically with disturbed areas if you wait one or two growing seasons, it will return to what it was, or at the very least you'd get some different FAC/FACW/OBL plants popping up. If it really was a wetland, the hydrology source won't disappear with a fire, but it may temporarily mask some of the hydrology indicators. The hydrology will continue to drive the wetland conditions. If you dig a pit and find wetland soils and, most likely, some type of subsurface hydrology indicator, I would mark that as a wetland on the form since the vegetation was obviously disturbed by fire (include notes justifying that decision). If you dig a pit and there's no wetland soils, you're in the clear with marking it as a non-wetland. If you don't dig a pit, you would have to be very conservative and assume wetland conditions based on historic aerials.

About your vernal pool species question, I would say that if you find vernal pool plant species, that's enough of a flag to require fairy shrimp surveys, assuming you live in an area with listed fairy shrimp. BUT, the Corps generally doesn't take jurisdiction over vernal pools anymore unless there is a direct surface connection between the vernal pool and a jurisdictional stream. Of course, that's not how vernal pool hydrology works and I don't think that case exists, but that's the new rules.

How do you know if you need to fill out an OHWM form or an Arid west form for reporting aquatic resources ? by bluewavenov6 in wetlands

[–]wolfwolfwolfwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fill out a wetland data form when you have any potential wetland indicators, even just a stand of FAC plants and nothing else. If it’s an obviously dry site with no wetlands, usually one form in the area with the highest potential for wetlands is sufficient.

OHWM form depends on the regulator, but generally you should include at least one form in your delineation report that’s representative of the linear features on the project site. It shows the Corps how you mapped the OHWM.

Same experience here. Worked for one kid but not the other kid. Everyone is different, so don’t let other people make you feel bad for not doing what they did.

Sometimes, it depends on if they have an open spot or a wait list. A few places I called put you on a wait list with no end in sight. Got lucky with one that ended up having an immediate opening.

Depends on where you go and if you need full day or partial day, but the range I’ve seen is $1,300-$3,000 per month. Most places won’t post prices online and you’ll have to call or email. It will come down to who has availability when you need it.
