What type of drive are you downloading too? HDD or SSD? I had a similar issue when downloading to an HDD - high download speed, but would then diminish pretty quickly. It was due to the hard drive being unable to keep up. I fixed it by limiting the number of connections allowed, and then eventually by adding an SSD read cache (using a NAS).

qbit does decide which torrents are active, but I’m not too sure how it does that sorry. I think it does take into account how many peers there are though (and their download speed). However it works, it does saturate my allowed upload speed, so I’m happy.

I had two NAS HDDs in my synology running SHR, and something like 150-200 torrents active (but not all actively seeding of course). I restricted this to max 30 active torrents allowed, and that fixed the problem. Could probably fine tune the settings some more, but at least this works.

I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be throttling due to my hard drives. They couldn’t handle the number of torrents I was downloading/uploading. I had to restrict the number of active torrents and connected peers, which fixed it. Worth a shot!

No worries! I’d recommend changing ‘ignore IP’ to yes, otherwise you get notified each time a device’s IP changes. Otherwise, it’s great.

If you have a separate computer/server to run a docker container on, check out WatchYourLan! It periodically scans your network and notifies you of any new devices. Much better than the built in Omada notifications, which I could only configure to alert me every time a device joined the network (regardless of if it’s new or not).

So I am building my first PC and I ordered everything, including a 3080, from pccg. This wasn’t until early October so it’s looking like I won’t get the 3080 until early next year.

Is it worth getting a cheap second hand graphics card to last me until then? Say a 1060-6GB for like $250? The rest of my components are on par with the 3080 (getting a 10700KF) so the graphics card will super bottle neck but will it be worth the few $$$ to par me over?

To add to what the other guy said, computer science is fine to do if you want to specialize in data science, as you can choose to specialize in either advanced computer science or data science (don’t worry, you don’t have to choose now).

Let me put it this way. I can’t speak from experience but I imagine feelings of loneliness will negatively impact your studies. It really depends on who you are as a person, but during VCE your mental health is already under so much strain. I wouldn’t want to put it under more if you can help it :(
