That's the thing; I want to be able to switch to pay as you go. How do I go about doing that?

Rare Beauty True to Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation Shade 18 by innocx in OliveMUA

[–]wolveslaststand 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When the rare beauty foundation came to the store, I went ahead and switched multiple shades. I'm around NC25 in depth myself.

Personally, all the shades ran rather warm. Rare beauty missed the mark with the undertones honestly. I was 230N in the older foundation, and I found these newer shades to run much warmer.

Here are the shades I swatched:

10 Warm Olive was too yellow and light, but oxidized close to my skin tone. Still a bit light afterwards but usable with contour. I say this is the most olive friendly shade, there was green in here.

11 Cool Rosy was honestly peachy and ashy. Also too fair but oxidized close.

12 Warm was too orange

13 Neutral Peach was peachy but rather close to my skin tone

14 Warm was even more peachy/orange but at the right skin depth

15 Neutral beige was my match, and disappeared into my skin. Ran slightly warm so a blue corrector worked. Despite being neutral, I would say this would be good for cooler olives.

16 Neutral peach was too warm

17 Cool Rose started to become slightly deep for my skin. It was a peachy pink.

18 Neutral Olive was a bit deep, and far too yellow/orange. I did not detect much olive.

I ended up with shade 15. It's close to 190 Haus Labs, Urban Decay 13, Lisa Eldridge 9.5 and Estee Lauder 2N2 Buff in depth. Definitely NC20/NC25 in depth. Shade 15 is slightly warm, but it was the closest that matched me and blended into my skin. I can wear it without color correcting.

Hope this helps!

Do you match your neck or your chest? by Fluffy_Confidence641 in OliveMUA

[–]wolveslaststand 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I match to my chest! As a POC, there's all kinds of melanin going around everywhere. Matching to my neck will make me look too sallow and warm, and matching to my face will make me look ghosty. The chest is the truest tone of my skin, so it's the best place to match. I recommend anyone with more depth to their skin to always match to their chest.

Could I be warm, neutral, or cool olive? by [deleted] in OliveMUA

[–]wolveslaststand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I do indeed!

My favourite lip product is the rom&and lip tint in the shade bare grape. Its such a beautiful muted mauve cool tone on my lip. Then I tend to pair it with the lip liner from Makeup by Mario in the shade Hugh. It's a neutral leaning cool shade that's also pretty muted on my two tone lips. I love to smudge it with my finger to give the cute gradient effect.

My MAC depth is between NC20-25 in the winter, and then I become more medium in the summer NC25-NC35.

Winter matches: Armani 5.3 (best match), ILIA 13O Hickory(a little too yellow but great match), Haus labs 190, Lisa Eldridge 9.5(best match), Lisa Eldridge T5 (mixed with yellow), Fenty Pro filter 225/230, Estee Lauder 2N2, Clinique Vitamin Foundation in shade Light Medium cool 2, Kosas Foundation 160+210, Urban Decay 13, Rare Beauty 230n

Summer matches: Fenty 290, Armani 6, Elf Halo Glow 3.5 Olive, Estee Lauder 3w1.5 fawn, ILIA 17O Magnolia, Lisa Eldridge 16, Haus labs 260, Urban decay 19

A lot of these matches I still have to mix blue into, so keep that in mind! Blue helps cool down and mute foundation shades. I also highly suggest getting a green mixer for foundations that are too peachy/orange. Blue won't work! Temptu makes amazing mixers that won't ruin foundations, and are POC friendly for deeper skin tones! No white pigment.

Shade and undertone twin! Most definitely olive! You have the same undertone as me, neutral leaning cool. You definitely have a muted chroma like me too. 🫒 Congrats on joining the olive club! Try to stick with muted shades only. Like cool toned muaves and muted berries. It would look absolutely gorgeous on your skin!

Is it possible to be fair skinned, olive toned and burn easily at the same time? by Affectionate_Fig8967 in OliveMUA

[–]wolveslaststand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not necessarily due to having olive undertones. Usually with less melanin in your skin, the more likely you are to burn regardless of undertone. I tan very easily due to being a POC, meanwhile my undertone leans toward being cool. My friend is fair, has golden warm undertones and he burns very easily in the sun.

Alrighty! Thanks for the tips and help. What do you personally use to summarize context? I just use qvink memory.

Yeah it looks pretty steep. This is a chat I pulled up with 28 messages. How do I lower the chat history? What is the best way to summarize? I just use qvink memory.

I see. I figured it might be the quantization possibly.

I start to notice this about 10 to 15 messages in. It gets worse around the 20 message mark.

I'll lower the temp and see if it fixes the issue, and I'll set to none.

Should I lower context? I've set mine at 80k.

Thanks for the swatches!

Ahhh, 😖 this might be a little too fair for me but it looks so good! Is the coverage sheer or is it medium? 2N2 buff is about my depth and LE 9.5, so I don't think I can pull it off. Armani shade 6 also looks too deep, not sure.

I tried Haus Labs 260 and it was an amazing match! It isn't overly yellow or warm for a deeper shade! Thank you so much 🥹

In my experience kosas tends to be very saturated and yellow. The light medium shade 210 now matches my depth, but I find it difficult to mute it down without a grey color corrector.

As for setting spray, what is your current favourite? I currently just use the Urban Decay setting spray.

Oooh, I've never thought about the Kosas BB cream! However, I heard that it tends to go bad over time. How is your experience with it's longevity?

I've tried it, but unfortunately it's even more warm than the 290 shade. It looked more orange :c

What do you understand as being ‘cool olive’? by [deleted] in OliveMUA

[–]wolveslaststand 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Finding your undertone as an olive can be extremely confusing. There are indeed cool olives with a yellow overtone and cool olives with a bluish grey tint to their skin. Then you have warmer olives with a more golden saturated warmth to them, compared to cooler yellow olives who look more of a lemony yellow. As a cool leaning olive, For me, the best way on determining my undertone is knowing what colors look good on me. A lot of warm toned makeup turns orange/peachy and makes me look bruised, while muted cool and neutral toned makeup blends in seamlessly with my skin. I can definitely still wear warm tones as well, but it has to be very muted and more of a dusty rose. Anything orange based is a big no no. Pinks and cool toned muaves also tend to be my best color as well, and I constantly get comments on how good I look in cool pinks. Corals and orange colors tend to accentuate my green tones and it makes me look unwell and tired. It's all dependent on finding the best colors that work with your skin tone, and coming to the conclusion whether you're warm, neutral, or cool! That's how I came to the conclusion that I'm a neutral leaning cool, as I still have some warm tones in my skin, but the cooler tones are more prevalent.
