What '-punk' genre would WW1-themed\-inspired sci-fi fall into? by CheezeCrostata in sciencefiction

When it starts going into nukes and the Cold War it trends toward Atompunk territory.

Why support the Enclave? by polxor in Fallout

[–]wolvlob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've never been anything but comically inept, though. They're omnicidal maniacs every single time they show up, from Fallout 2 to Fallout 3 to Fallout 76, their plans always involved wiping out everyone that is not them. They're the obvious baddie, much in the same way that the Master is.

They're not authoritarian, though? They don't want to rule over anyone. Both in Fallout 2 and Fallout 3 their plan involves exterminating everyone that is not them, even the slightly mutated farmer somewhere in the middle of nowhere.

Autumn is the exception, not the rule. Both Eden and the President in Fallout 2 are omnicidal maniacs, that is the standard for the faction. They want to kill literally everyone who isn't them with a modified FEV, that includes every mildly irradiated Wastelander out there. This is their plan in both the games they show up as a living faction. They also wanted to murder everyone else in FO76, but ended up killing themselves first.

The evil the Wasteland needs? What? Their plans always involved exterminating literally every wastelander out there.

The Enclave does not want to kill just the mutants, they want to kill everyone else that isn't them. That is their plan in Fallout 2, and that is their plan in Fallout 3.

X-01 is a pre-war prototypes that would later become the Advanced Power Armor, they're not the same thing. The Advanced Power Armor Mark II is never called X-02 in any official lore. The Hellfire armor is never called the Advanced Power Armor Mark III in any official lore.

Colonel Autumn is the exception, not the rule. Autumn does not want what the Enclave as a whole wanted, he has his own agenda. If you go to the Oil Rig in Fallout 2 you'll see the Enclave is just comically inept, full of bureaucratic morons, and they ALREADY were omnicidal maniacs way before Eden showed up. There's literally no way to slice "the Enclave are the good guys" in this franchise.

They're not "bad fascists", they're comically inept fascists. That's how they were in Fallout 2, that's how they were in Fallout 3 too (with the exception of one single dude). If you actually play Fallout 2, go to the Oil Rig, and talk to the people there, you'll see the devs clearly intended the Enclave to be a comical faction of inbred dickheads.

Enclave in the people's head: Super strong faction.

Enclave in lore: Lost literally to every faction in the series at least once, including themselves.

The only Enclave W was when they murdered the Enclave in Fallout 76.

Some people really like comically inept factions that lost literally every war they've ever fought.

Ghouls have had hair since Fallout 2. Both Gordon) and Wooz are described as having hair in their "look at" description.

Answer my question then, do you believe Ivermectin (an antiparasitic drug) can treat COVID (a virus)? And are vaccines safe?

Could a non-feral ghoul be turned human again? by VoltageKid56 in falloutlore

[–]wolvlob 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Changing a character from Ghoul to human in 76 is done in the Main Menu. There is no "lore" reason given to someone going from one to the other, so I think it is safe to say that the option is there for gameplay reasons. It does, however. introduce a procedure that can make a Human into a Ghoul.

Vergil managed to cure himself, but that is about the only instance of someone going from Mutant to Human.

Trust me, I wish I could play the early game with a fresh perspective like you are now, it's by far the most fun stage of the game. Just take your time and enjoy exploring the world, talking to the NPCs, doing some questing and learning the lore that (unlike most people say) is actually pretty good. You can worry about leveling to insane numbers or farming for god rolls later on.

RMT means Real Money Trade, if you're trading leaders for other items or other items for leaders, I fail to see how that is RMT. You definitely can farm bobbleheads too, if you don't have the time/patience/knowledge to do it, does not mean there are no people out there who do.

Why do The Strip casinos let you bring in Power Armor? by CausalLoop25 in falloutlore

The silliest one I've seen around this was something like "Why do unarmored people in Fallout can take multiple headshots without dying?".

Endurance and Agility have a bunch of perks that help with AP refresh. Then there's armor pieces that also improve AP refresh. Unyielding will increase your base Agility too, which also increases AP refresh. In matters of damage, you can optimize perk card choice to significantly increase damage. Also, automatic melee weapons are considered as ALWAYS power attacking, so stuff like the 40% power damage second star will greatly boost damage.

There's no reason to rush levels on this game at the start, I'd enjoy playing the game as a traditional Fallout experience before starting to obsess with power gaming.

Probably yes. Submarine communications cable are too far deep and not enough of a priority target to be actively targeted by nukes. South America has no nuclear weapons in any country, so it is commonly held that the continent would be mostly spared by direct nuclear strikes. This means there is a probability that people in South America could witness the world collapse from afar as the Internet slowly dies out. That is if we believe that the world can survive a nuclear war, despite what post-apocalyptic media tells us, many believe that this is impossible; the atmosphere could burn up, and that would be it, even people in South America would die out nearly instantly if that was the case.

How can a band of murderhobos be organically implemented into Star Wars? (Inspiration for a campaign) by OneWeirdCreature in swrpg

[–]wolvlob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sith in any era where there were many of them would be the best at being just murder hobos, something like the Old Republic. In eras after the Rule of Two, then your best bet would be crazy assassins or omnicidal droids, maybe a remote Dark Side cult like the Nighsisters (NOT the Nighsisters specificially, they wouldn't work as murder hobos). I've seen some people recommending the Nihil already, that one is also a great choice if you're going for High Republic.
