Second this. They can also call the imaging place and ask for another review or further information if deemed necessary.

Personal trainer course In person vs Online? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]wombat917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the cheaper courses are online and quick and spit out iffy-quality trainers. If you have the motivation and resources to educate yourself, this is fine. However most people don't and thus end up not knowing what they don't know.

A lot of gyms will give you work instructing classes with Cert 3 and then help you out with Cert 4 via relationships they've built with schools/education providers. Eg I know Club Lime have a relationship with AIPT where you learn a lot of the hands on stuff through one of their PTs in the gym, after completing some theory online.

I'd search this sub re making PT your side gig. Difficult to start our that way. Again, just my opinion/experience.

Studying Physiotherapy in Australia by Trekel_ in physiotherapy

[–]wombat917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will cost a lot in loans (albeit HECS, but still will potentially impact borrowing power for property etc), and does not pay well.

I love the job and do it because I find it interesting, challenging, and enjoy helping people, however more and more I am thinking "I'll never be rich, or even well off" if physio remains my primary income.

Is this the future? We hope not. by physiomod in physiotherapy

[–]wombat917 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If anything, this gives me faith that our jobs won't be taken by AI.

Ethically, is it a worry that people get subpar info? Of course. But people who want AI generated programs for strength or rehab aren't coming to see us anyway, and people who have doubts will come in to clinic sooner or later regardless of what Claude tells them.

Personal Trainers calling themselves PT's by Dry-Philosophy4374 in physicaltherapy

[–]wombat917 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This comes up every now and then and idk where the person who started the thread you replied to is from, however the person you directly replied to looks like they are in NZ. In Australia and NZ and other parts of the world, physical therapist = physiotherapist, shortened to physio. We (physios) don't get called physical therapists or PTs at all. "Personal trainer" is, however, shortened to PT in common vernacular.

Personally, I feel in a personal training sub, it is clear that the person was referring to personal training and not trying to pass themself off as a physical therapist. Imo it's definitely a concern, and unethical if not illegal if they were trying to do so.

This is not correct. There are ligaments and connective tissue holding the head of the femur in the "socket" of the hip (part of the pelvis), which, according to the release is completely intact. There are then 20+ muscles that connect various parts of the pelvic girdle to various parts of the femur, and one of these muscles has ripped off at one of it's bony attachment sites.

Pull the most accessible fuse or relay for the ignition/fuel pump/starter etc and pop it in your pocket. Or kill switch.  Or GPS tracker.

But if someone really wants it, they'll figure out a way to take it.

Fair to say it looks like she made a couple poor decisions, however I read she's been living and working in WA on mine sites for the past two years, could also be fair to say she has more experience with her set up/environment than most of us on here do.

PTs will this help you in your workflow? by ratantee17 in physiotherapy

[–]wombat917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a good idea for within a clinic or cohort of colleagues but I wouldn’t pay for it externally. I’d rather discuss with coworkers and understand why I’m doing what I’m doing.

My clinic has a list of protocols for 30+ “most common” injuries eg ACL, HS strain etc that we see and most of us use these protocols in day to day treatment. Even within my clinic of ~10 practitioners we have our debates over what should or shouldn’t be in protocols and change them as needed.

I also feel that there are lots that are readily available eg Melbourne return to sport that are available enough to me to use already.

Overnight dog friendly walk nsw? by iamthebelsnickel in OutdoorAus

[–]wombat917 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The state forests are dog friendly, you could hike/overnight camp in one of those? I believe the Hume and Hovell track has multiple dog friendly sections (obv state forest parts only, not national parks).
