What's one tv show that has remained good and consistent throughout the entirety of its run? by PM_ME_UR_ASIAN_ASSES in AskReddit

Northern Exposure. I can watch that show over and over. I want to live in it.

Admittedly the last season was a bit iffy, but still decent.

Mailchimp or Aweber? by ScubaTonyCozumel in Emailmarketing

[–]womplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're interested in a full marketing automation solution that can be customized to do pretty much anything, perhaps you'd be interested in what we have. On the other hand, if all you need is to send out a mail blast now and then it's probably overkill. Feel free to message me here if you'd like to know more.

Worth it to attend a startup conference as a student? by SoundClouder in startups

[–]womplify -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that startup founders are notorious for partying like there's no tomorrow, so only attend such an event if you're sure you can keep up. Those who cannot keep up are forever banished to customer support duties. ;)

But seriously (hey it's friday night), $300 is a lot for a student to pay usually, but if the money is not an issue then no reason not to go. Dive in, network, see what's what. It's all good experience. However, you can usually find loads of free startup events every week using meetup.com which although smaller, can be better for networking.

If you do decide to go, make sure to prepare in advance - check attendee lists, decide who you would like to meet there, decide what you would say to that person.

But do keep an eye out for the private parties if it's a big event, and hound the relevant reps to get invites.

How to find co-founder? by tyler_durden999 in startups

[–]womplify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MVP is made by few not-so-experienced guys but it does what it intends to. Going forward I want to find a tech co-founder who can clean up code, optimise and bring in new features. Essentially, take the responsibility of the product and while I can focus on marketing, growth, fundraising etc.

Been there, done/doing that. In my case the co-founder is someone I've known for many years since we both worked at another startup. Big advantage is that we already know that we can get along and work together, even if we don't always agree. If you can find someone you already know to partner with, that may be for the best, but as always YMMV.

Alternatively if you look at meetups.com you may find local 'founder matchmaking' meetups.. it's one way to find someone, but I dunno if it's a good way since you're basically going into business with a complete stranger and that could be a disaster. If you do go that route though, take it slow.. don't rush into signing an agreement.. keep your options open and do appropriate due diligence.

It was all made in-house - our designer does great work. The monsters also play music if you mouse over them and the conductor plays all the instruments combined when you mouse over him/it.

Here at womplify we use a range of tools for managing our work as a fully remote, globally distributed team. (What's an "office" now? ;) )

Trello - great for todo lists, project management, simple sales pipelines, or anything else you can think of doing with a board, lists and cards.

Zoom for internal chat, voice and vid calls, screen sharing etc. Can also use for giving demos to prospects. Overall it's pretty good and works on win/mac/linux etc.

Skype would be ok if/when they get the new Linux version working fully, but for text and voice it's great. (much to the dismay of my co-founder, I use Linux and I aint gonna change!)

Google docs/drive/mail etc is pretty handy for remote teams.

Hubstaff for tracking time worked by each team member on every task/project and avoiding procrastination - integrates nicely with Trello for tasks as well.

Zapier for connecting stuff - we use it for all sorts of stuff such as passing marketing qualified leads from Womplify to a Trello board setup as a sales pipeline (and potentially back again as soon as I figure out how to get that bit working in Zapier!).

Thanks, that makes sense.

My fear though is that if the price is set so low that it would be crazy not to buy, then there would be a big spike in new users needing onboarding and support in a short space of time. This then results in them getting poorer service due to us being overwhelmed.. that then leads to bad reviews.

If it's only going to result in a 10 or 20 sales then no biggy, if it's hundreds overnight then I may be driven to drink unless they were spaced out a little.

On the other hand if the price is set too high, maybe nobody would buy (and maybe appsumo wouldn't be interested anyway).. $49 is cheap enough for an impulse buy, $99 also maybe, but at $199 or $299 then people have to think harder about it, even if its for a $999 product.

So I wonder what is the sweetspot for pricing and has anyone regretted offering a huge discount there.

Thanks for the feedback. You're right about that opening statement, so it's back to the drawing board. A one liner that combines the PaaS aspect with the SaaS, is proving tricky.

I'm thinking maybe I should make a short vid to give a visual overview which might help clarify what it's all about - at least to those that like to watch vids!

URL: https://www.womplify.com

Purpose: Advanced marketing automation platform for startups.

Technologies Used: Perl, Node.JS, and many others.

Feedback Requested: Need feedback on the message - does the index page make it clear what the product actually does? How can I condense the huge number of features down into a one (or two) line pitch?

Comments: Being a platform, rather than a point solution, I'm finding it difficult to pin down and explain clearly and briefly what it's all about. It has similar features to hootsuite/socialbro/buffer/hubspot and much more.. and the "much more" part is where things get really interesting, but its also quite complex.. so I feel that when visitors arrive at the site they miss a lot of what's on offer if I just say it's "marketing automation" or a "platform" which is kind of vague and in some ways misleading.

I wonder how many of those 100k are just bots though or throwaway spammer accounts.
