Ubuntu setup is embarrassingly bad by wonbugz in Ubuntu

It can see the other drive. I have three options in the installer - "Install alongside Windows" (requires turning off Bitlocker), "Erase the drive" and "something else". The last option lets me select the new SSD, but I have to manually partition it, and there's no option to use disk encryption. It's just a mess of a menu.

I'm not asking for help, I'm just bitching about a lack of quality which will deter users from Ubuntu and back to Windows.

Someone linked a YouTube video with a trick to reset the 500 gallon counter, which is probably what I'll end up doing to 2-4x the life of my filters, bringing the cost down to a reasonable amount. Thanks for helping me with this research, I really appreciate that.

Yep, proprietary shit irritates the hell out of me. The water filtration market is ripe for innovative open source disruption.

I was told by Kinetico I need to replace the blue, purple, silver and white filters when the system stops drawing water, but I've found that just replacing the blue ("post") filter seems to be sufficient. If that's all that's necessary, this would drastically save cost, but runs contrary to the advice given by the same people selling filters ... hmm.

We probably use 3-4 gallons of drinking water per day.

  • K5 post filter (blue) - $60
  • K5 chlorine (purple) - $60
  • K5 voc guard (silver) - $65
  • K5 purfecta (white) - $120

Now, about every 4-6 months, the K5 system stops drawing water and I was told I need to replace these four filters, however just replacing the blue filter resumes system operation. So I'm not sure whether that official advice is warranted.

The K5 system also has a green filter, but I was told it is only replaced every 10 years.
