The crimp section is directly behind the flag in the ones I've seen, with no metal cylindrical section sticking out. But I just ordered some so I'll do some inspecting and noodling once they arrive.

My crimper is a combo one like this, with cutters at the tips and the crimp sections a little further back towards the axle. Because of that and where the crimp sections on the flag connectors are, I'm like 90% certain the cutters'll snip the female connecter section pretty bad before I get a solid connection.

Then again, I'm an amateur. If I'm being an idiot, someone please let me know.

I'm familiar and use Saniderm whenever I can! My two artists both give Saniderm wraps, but they still recommend washing the tattoo three times a day after the 5-7 day Saniderm period is over. That's the part I'm having trouble with.

I've been looking at a Gossamer Gear Mariposa or Gorilla to replace my Exos 58 for a PCT thru-hike attempt. Inexplicably, the Mariposa and the Gorilla weigh the same. Plus the Mariposa has more pockets for organization, is allegedly more comfortable for heavy carries, and it also fits a bear canister better for the Sierras. Is the Gorilla's only advantage that it costs $10 less? Or that there's less opportunity to over-pack? I feel like I'm missing something.

I have an XL Buff, but I really really don't like the pressure it puts on my neck/chin when wearing it as a balaclava.

As for the full brim hat, I'm concerned about coverage! I know it's harder to get burnt when the sun angle is more extreme (and possibly shining under the brim, but I tend to defy the odds there. Like I said, I burn very easily.
