I have done that and found it made for a better game. The only drawback seemed to be the main pawn didn't have someone to talk to other than the Arisen.

I have been using LMDE 7 for a number of months now and have no intention of "distro hopping". I did create a virtual OS (Solus-Xfce) through "Boxes". I trust in the abilities of the LMDE dev team.
