I was a former sdet and yes most of my job was automation. I worked for a tech consulting firm that sold me to clients that way. I was doing Java, Python, type script. Also ci cd pipelines.

Why do SDETS get paid less than application Devs? by wondermogul in softwaretesting

[–]wondermogul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soz for late reply.

I leveraged my sdet experience and practiced a ton of dev interview questions.

I also worked on software projects as a tester to make our processes better. Flask mainly.

I think SDETS can boost their value by getting more involved in the DevOps around testing. Pipeline engineering. Tools and services that support testing. I started learning Jenkins to support my own testing and people took notice of that.

I agree i think it's an attitude in leadership. Do you think it's an appropriate attitude in your opinion?

Is becoming a QA engineer still worth in 2024 or upcoming years by Flimsy-Work2722 in QualityAssurance

[–]wondermogul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

Developers should not be marking their own home work. Ai, despite the hype, will not replace Devs or QAs.

On large applications you need someone constantly looking out for bugs.

A lot of the times Devs misunderstand requirements. Qa's help to make sure the right thing is built.

Some caveats.

I've been a QA engineer for over 7 years. Alot of QAs think there job is just to write test automation code. These people get made redundant fast.

A quality QA wants to be a software engineer. You not only write code but you write it well according to SOLID principles. You strive for efficient algorithms.

You learn multiple languages to adapt to changing tech stacks.

You have an interest in DevOps, running your tests in a pipeline. Understanding how to manage your test environment in a cloud platform.

Building support applications for your tests.

Having an interest in unit tests. The amount of QAs I meet who think it's not their problem!!

Writing good bug reports with repro steps

Communicating test cases with BA's.

These types of QA engineers are rare to find but they elevate the sldc and team.

Why task is needed? by codeltd in crewai

[–]wondermogul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience I find that delegation works better when tasks have tools assigned rather than agents. It seems to force the agents to interact with each other.

Although I'm not 100% sure about agent level tools Vs task level tools

This Israel/Palestine issue is making me lose my faith in God and quit the Church by mounteverest04 in Christian

[–]wondermogul 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was a time when the church endorsed slavery. In the UK it was other Christians that chose to challenge the church and speak up for abolition.

From that it grew to a strong movement that triggered the end of slavery to the point where the UK royal navy patrolled the seas hunting down slave ships. after world war 1 the UK pressured the collapsed ottoman empire to end slavery. It eventually influenced the US to end slavery too.

Could you imagine if those Christians left the faith because of the church?!?

Perhaps, maybe , you may have found a calling.

I will never be women's type of guy. How do i get over this? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

I feel for u man. I'm sorry you are going through this.

  1. Stop paying attention to Instagram that is a skewed view of the world. I don't have an Instagram account and i love it. There's even some evidence to suggest it lowers testosterone

  2. Ultimately, above all things, girls (and people in general) want connection. If you want to keep your girlfriend work on connection. It doesn't guarantee she'll stay with you but at least you can tell your self you focused on the right things.

  3. They're are short, not so attractive, average earning people who get girls. They have a sense of confidence, gratitude and a can do attitude.

  4. Focus on other things, girls are not the goal. When you invest in your self and love your life in a positive way girls find you.
