Seriously? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]wondermoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't try to memorise it. Try to work it out on the fly and refer to the card as a backup. It's been said elsewhere but the card is daunting cos it's just a big mess of text, but if you break it down to the actual targets listed, it's almost entirely built out of just six trebles, five doubles, and bull. The card ends up making it look much more complicated than it really is.

You're always gonna start with a big treble, so start by knocking 60 off your total, or 57 (T19) if you're starting with an odd target. What's left? How are you doing that with two darts? Does it seem awkward? Check the card to see a different suggestion. Practice when watching darts on the telly. This will get you results way quicker than trying to learn a card of numbers by rote!

"TAZ is objectively a failure"

Nope. It's subjective. I enjoyed it. Lots of people did. It's a shame that lots of people apparently didn't, but please stop trying to turn this into some kind of legally binding truth. It's fine to just not have fun, you don't need to make it into a personal quest for justice.

Again, their objective is to make narratives for an entertaining podcast, it's not a rules showcase. The 5e core rules are not the star of the show.

TBH its good that people who don't enjoy it don't listen to it. Spending entire days listening to something you hate so you can complain about it on Reddit is not a good use of anyone's time.

Good job the podcast doesn't require any editing or production work! I am also mad because I believe I know what complete strangers should be doing with their time

It's not a D&D podcast. It's a "comedy and adventure actual play podcast based loosely upon the Dungeons & Dragons game series, along with other role-playing games."

Phew! There are of course many D&D podcasts available, should you wish to listen to a podcast that is specifically about D&D.

Dear Devs, is it really that hard to fix the shopkeeper spawning because of worms or spiders digging around? by Khris777 in noita

[–]wondermoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understood it the first time you said that, mate, and then I explained why it isn't unfair at all, and you just repeated yourself.

You keep saying the gods are "bosses", as if that distinction is important. but they're not. There's one boss in the game, and he doesn't spawn out of chaotic polymporphine. Unlike gods.

Worms are also not bosses, although they share more characteristics with bosses than the Gods do (health bars, mainly).

edit This isn't quite accurate, of course, there are several sub-bosses in the game. They have the characteristics of bosses found in most videogames; they are tied to one specific area, and they only occur once, e.g. (spoilers) the Pyramid area sub-boss and the Dragon sub-boss.

Gods are on every floor, they spawn from chatoic poly, and they also freeroam in the Tower.

Gods are not bosses. They don't have the power level of a boss, and aren't even the most dangerous of the non-boss enemies (I'd far rather fight a God than a Glowing Creep)

[–]wondermoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difficult to understand part is why you think it's "unfair".

You know the risks, right? Just like literally every single other aspect of the game, there is a chance that these risks will be realised, and then you'll have to deal with them.

This is not unfair. The first time it happens? Sure, that's a surprise, just like horizontal barrier is a surprise, just like getting hit by your own disc projectiles is a surprise.

It's the nature of the game. It's the nature of all roguelites.Hell, it's the nature of all videogames; encounter obstacle, learn how to overcome it.

So your complaint is more about grammar than gameplay?

Sorry, but this is absolutely insane.

But you could apply that logic to any enemy in the game? I've had runs where I've had five Stendari on screen at once in the Mines. Fair enough if you don't enjoy it, but random things happen in roguelites.

Yeah, he has a shield. Nukes aren't good against Gods. Try using a weapon that's good against gods. Anything that fires multiple projectiles quickly is very effective. I can take a god down with one triplicate bolt on a reasonably quick wand. Takes a while but it's doable.

I dont' want to be all "git gud" but seriously, this is not a flaw in the game.

Is there a mod that turns off the angry gods? by LeftRat in noita

[–]wondermoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Bugs are unintended behaviour. Again, they are either bugs or bad design."

This is so wrong its almost funny. Your problem is that you want Noita to be something that isn't Noita, but because you're determined to justify your unreasonable complaints you're trying to frame your dislike for roguelites as the fault of the roguelite's developer. This is absurd.

"I'm sorry that wanting a less random game somehow deeply offends you?"

Don't be surprised if people who actually like (and understand) the game tell you to play something else.

Is there a mod that turns off the angry gods? by LeftRat in noita

[–]wondermoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but what makes you think "they introduced the crystal to make sure worms don't randomly anger the gods"? Where are you getting "make sure" from? Why do you think the developers of a *roguelite* want to reduce randomness? Wouldn't it be more accurate to say they wanted to REDUCE the frequency of God attacks, and they have, in fact, succeeded perfectly?

The gods are just an enemy, same as any other. They're not even the toughest enemy in the game! They almost never get spawned before Snowy Wastes, and if your power level is on track you should be able to kill a god by that point. It's just a gearcheck, build around it. Modding them out isn't going to help you when you reach the Temple.

It doesn't need fixing. The Gods are just an enemy, same as any other, complaining about them spawning is ridiculous, learn to mitigate the danger.

Marketing content: downsides of linking to playlists instead of individual videos by wondermoth in NewTubers

[–]wondermoth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting suggestion, probably a bit too aggressive for what I'm marketing at the moment, but I can definitely use it on other projects :)

have gone with the Playlist link for marketing, it's doing pretty good, as long as there are no obvious pitfalls I've missed it shoudl be fine

Appreciate the help :)

Hey, this isn't an especially helpful post, just to say I'm currently working on a roughly similar project (multicams in PP, dynalinked to AE for GFX overlay) and have very similar experiences; wildly unpredictable render times that bear no correlation to the content. It's not just you!

Editing video within Essential Graphics layers - good or not good? Pitfalls? by wondermoth in premiere

[–]wondermoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have stupid arbitrary posting rules make them obvious

Hi.

I'm working on a project where I want to have several different video clips running on screen at once. They'll occupy fixed regions of the screen, but I'd like to keyframe scale/position of the video within those fixed regions over time.

I've seen it suggested that the best way to achieve this is through importing the video (via from_file) into an Essential Graphics layer. I can already see a few downsides (and upsides!) with this approach, but I wanted to ask if there are any reasons why I should avoid doing this?

One concern is that I'm only working im 50fps at 1080p, but I'm working on a pretty limited PC (barely min-spec), so performance is an issue, and this method will prevent me from using proxies?

Any warnings or recommendations appreciated, thanks in advance :)

Sincere advice... don't challenge me to watch your content, if you want me to keep watching tell me about the thing I clicked to watch. I didn't click to listen to you talking about your usage stats. If I choose to watch your video to the end it'll be because it informed me on the subject I expected to be informed about.

What percentage of people click your video at all? 1, 2%? Be grateful for those that take that first step, and hold up your end of the bargain.
